Not Enough Memory / Windows Installer

Two programs, and probably a whole lot more.
Recently trying to install AVG, and I was receiving installer issues.
I approached other Tech sites and was told to use a program, basically
now I cannot install any program, and I receive the error concerning
windows installer... "The Windows Installer could not be accessed"

I attempted re-install the installer on the Microsoft website, but it
gave me the "Not enough memory to process this action"

I've spent countless hours troubleshooting and yeah... I'm just tired
of it.

Any help please?

Preferably I'd restore to a previous system restore point, but I get
the memory error with that... so yeah, no luck with anything.

Sounds like the bounders stuck you with a virus program. Reformat your disk
and start from ground zero.

Run this in command prompt as an administrator if you are having these
problems or used the fix that changed permissions of your entire
registry (I did it to get VB.net express working for class):

net localgroup Administrators Local Service /ADD
net localgroup Administrators Network Service /ADD

how do i run that...
you cant press enter in a cmd
ugh this is just so frustrating
and how is 'start from scratch' helping... theres obviously a fix..
without deleting everything

(You forgot to quote the post you replied to: that poster suggested
that you wipe your drive and start over.)

What Mike Vandeman so kindly proposed was that you take action that
will cause you to lose all your work.

You could try system restore, as you propose - it might work better
from safe mode, if you have problems.

Otherwise find a way to get rid of the problem. You don't give much
info, though. Maybe you turned virtual memory (swapfile, pagefile) off.

Well, I'd rather not take action that requires my to lose all my
work... surely there's an alternative... there has to be another way, is
there any way I could provide you with info that might help?

Hm, I've fixed the installation error, WITHOUT "deleting everything"...
why would you even just suggest that... thats a little lazy tbh

Well, the rubberband stuff works until it stretches over the video part of the window -- you will see the rubberbanded Rectangle for a split second on every mouse move, but as soon as motion stops, the rubberbanded rectangle line will be overwritten with the animated video screen.
