Cluster or Mirror Solution for Member Server

Hi all,

I have a client whose needs are:

SBS 2003 R2 , 2 NICs, ISA Installed

Create a solution through cluster or mirror of a member server where he runs
"critical" LOB. If the server 1 goes down, server 2 comes right on.
Can anyone share some ideas on this?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Daniel

Please note that this venue is due to be closed in a few days and you=20

You can either use your web browser, or if you prefer to use your =
existing=20
(or different) nntp news reader you can use one of the official MS =
bridge=20
applications, or the combined one on codeplex.com

Official MS Bridge - Note two required.
http://connect.microsoft.com/MicrosoftForums/

Codeplex nntp bridge - only one required.
http://communitybridge.codeplex.com/

With that out of the way....Does the client already have SBS 2003? If =
not...definitely need to consider SBS 2008, Single NIC, Hardware =
Firewall.

So actually what you'd want is a separate server for the LOB and for =
it's failover. It would be helpful to know more about the app to give =
you better suggestions.

Service Pack 1 for server 2003, broke my Exchange
I have an exchange server here and I believe my problem to be more on the networking side. After updating to Service Pack 1 for server 2003 I notice that I am loosing connectivity on one of the subnets that the server has. Now I know it's the correct thing to do, but the server was configured with two IP Addresses from two different subnets; 10.0.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24. This was done so that the office on the 10.0.0.0/24 network could talk to exchange and do their tasks. Removing a Front-End Server
I have an Exchange 2003 Back-end server and also an Exchange 2003 Front-end server both running on Windows 2003. I need to get rid of my front end server. Do I just have to uncheck the box on the front end "make this server a front end server" and then remove the server in ESM? Our front end server is only being used for web access which is no longer needed. Hi, you can uninstall this exchange server, before remove it (if necessary) from the ESM. Change SQL Server Collation
Please comment on determine whether or not to change GP SQL Server Collation and the possible path to do it. We had initial installed Great Plains on SQL Server 6.5 with suggested collation and sort order (binary order, case sensitive) back to ten years ago and then we had upgraded SQL Server into 7.0 and then SQL 2000 later. Then the collation in SQL 2000 was converted into strange Collation Name: Compatibility_50_409_0. Now I am planning to upgrade SQL Server and GP also. Is it good time for me to change the collation from Compatibility_50_409_0 to current suggested collation? What ...

Exchange Server Recipient Limits
Hello group, We are currently running Exchange 2003 in mixed mode, and would like to limit the recipient limits in Exchange. We would like to limit it to 40 globally. The problem we are having is that want DLs to count as 1 recipient, and not the actual number of members. From what I recall, this is how Exchange 5.5 behaved. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks much to all, Kynnie -- ...

Can't Access Microsoft Exchange Server?
Hello, everyone. I recently had to get a new hard drive. My PC manufacturer's service group moved my old drive down to D: and installed a new one as C:. Now the old merely acts as storage. Outlook 2002 (XP) was installed, with the rest of Office on my new hard drive. However, each time I attempt to open it, I get a message saying that it can't access the Microsoft Exchange Server. I am prompted to either retry, work offline or cancel. Retrying begets the same message. Working offline won't allow me to configure my e-mail in Outlook or see My Outlook folders. Can...
