Windows server 2000 strange crash

Hi,
i have a strange problem in my network, 1 dc 2000 server which is also dhcp
server and dns server ,and 1 member server 2003 acting as fileserver.
When rebooting the dc, it will work properly. Running dcdiag and netdiag
will not show any problems, all tests passing, no errors, no warnings. But
after 14 hours (at night when nobodys working), the DC simple stops findind
himself...running netdiag gives dc_list and ldap errors, dcdiag wont even
run, gives just an error 31 with ldap. After this, i get replication errors,
problems with connectivity, leading to server stop responding, and needs to
be hard reseted. At day when it's overloaded, it just works ok....at
night...crashes.
Any Ideas?

Hello Rick,

Sounds like DNS problems, please post an uneditd ipconfig /all fro the DC.
Also post the dcdiag /v and netdiag output.

Best regards

Thanks for replying Meinolf,

as you asked, i'll show you the logs from dcdiag and netdiag taken from the
dc.
I'll show you first the one taken when the problem occurs (11pm) and then
the one taken when the dc is rebooted (9 am)

netdiag at 11 pm (showing problems)

Yes, i'm using a single label domain name...in matter of fact, this is (was)
working since 2002. But this is happening only since a power failure last
week. Runned also chkdsk, and there's no errors, disks are ok, memory ok (no
leaks)....Don't know what more can i do to solve this.

thanks for your reply peter

all i know is that the dc and the domain itself works 100% at day, when
users are working, and at night the dc looses control. I've checked and
double checked all items. Found today that i had a locked default domain
policy and default domain controller policy, and reseted both. Made all
changes and applied. After this, all i can see is that 14 hours past the
ntfrs service is started, the problems start to happen.

It doesnt let me move this object to the dns container. I'm turned to be the
ntfrs consuming too much resources. How can i see, and if so, what procedures
can i take? One more question. Do i have to have the IIS ADMIN SERVICE,
SIMPLE MAIL TRANSPORT PROTOCOL, SITESERVER ILS SERVICE AND WORLD WIDE WEB
PUBLISHING SERVICE enabled and running. I used to had an extra exchange
server in my network, but no more. Internet is provided through a proxy
server in another office, set by dns in my network.

Thanks

Outlook conflicting with Windows Mail
I have Vista Business. I get e-mails from Yahoo groups. When I left click Reply to sender or Reply to group I get Outlook opening up to handle it, even though the e-mail is received via Windows Mail. Project Server file versions
In Project Server 2007 is there a way to save off snapshots of a schedule? Currently we check our schedules into Sharepoint, which has file revision history built in, but Project Server 2007 doesn't seem to have a similar capability. I realize I can use baselining to track differences between points in a project history, but let's say for example I make a series of updates to a schedule, publish that project into Project Server, only to find out later that the situation has changed and I need to back out all those changes. How would I get back? I suppose one soluti...

Why doesn't Windows Live Mail delete read mails
I have Windows Live Mail setup where it should not leave mail on the server but that doesn't matter because Windows Mail seems to ignore that preference. Even though I've read an email I still have to mark them for deletion using Windows Live Mail or Windows Mail. This is also true using other email client software no emails are removed from the servers despite preference settings.
