server refuses to create share

Hi,

Brand new Windows 2008 server. Due to UAC problems as domain admin I have disabled all AUC prompts
for Domain admins in de local policy. We do not have any GPO which might overule that.

On a newly formatted D: drive I want to share a folder. I create a directory, right click on the
directory and choose share.
By default my account is listed as owner and Domain admins as Co-Owner.
The share button stil has the UAC shield on it but when I click on it I get a screen:
Title bar: File sharing
Message: Your folder could not be shared.
That's it. no more, no explanation why. Nor can I find any relevant info in the event logs.

I don't know what it is about Server 2008 but I'm getting more and more frustrated.

I've been running Windows 2008 for about 2 years and haven't seen this =
problem. I don't think UAC has anything to do with this. Instead of =
clicking on Share, click on Advanced Sharing, set it up under there, and =
see if that helps.

Is there any 3rd party utilities, apps, firewalls, security software, =
etc, installed? Or Dave's question about F&S bound?

Turns out it IS a UAC problem. I had not restarted the server yet so the new local policy had not
been activated yet. :-(

Advice required
I need to create some graphs from data that is derived from a long series of separate calculations on my source data. For aesthetic reasons, I would like to hide all the "interim" calculations on the spreadsheet, but I've noticed that as soon as I hide the interim data (i.e set the row height to zero), the detail on the graphs disappears. I presume that this is a design feature feature of Excel (I supoose I can just about accept the rationale for it), but does anyone know whether there's a way around this? Many thanks. CRS. Restoring Server
I did a total backup of our server using Small Business Server 2003. On restore, SQL cannot find the data, CRM security service cannot start and Exchange is not working. Everything else performs as expected. First, have I lost my SQL database by choosing to back up using NTBackup only? Second, any pointers on how to get CRM up and running again would be greatly appreciated. Gracias, Brian As far as I know, you cannot backup SQL databases with NTBackup. This is because NTBackup cannot access locked files (the physical mdf and ldf files are locked by SQL Server). You usually need a p...
