Doomsday approaches, and in a few hours someone will have to switch off the lights. The time has come for an undignified slow race to be the last to post in this group, so all start back-pedalling now...

Thanks for your companionship over the past 4+ years – see you again over at the Annex Café or, those with the stomach for it, WLSC.

The WLMsgr group which had reasonable amount of daily postings disappeared almost immediately(nttp and web cdo). It’s also dead on aioe.org with 2 posts since Aug 25 fed in from the Eggheads.

Outlook 2002 SP3 Virtual Memory / Crashing problem
Hello, all. I have Outlook 2002 SP3 on my work laptop. (thus, upgrading is not an option.) I have recently broken out the .pst into multiple files, and run the outlook repair program against the main .pst file. Even before that I have had a problem where outlook, even sitting, will in a period of time (anywhere from 20 minutes to hours) will lock up. It will lock up the entire computer. A Virtual Memory is running low, making more box is presented, and eventually outlook will crash. Then the computer recovers. It can lock the computer up for 5 minutes. Any quick ideas? Thanks for the Threads info Joe.
Joe.. Thank you very much for your pages on Threads at http://www.flounder.com/workerthreads.htm#enum I had a couple of worker threads running , one delivering data from a USB 2.0 connection and the other displaying that data in a dialog (waveforms) . I had done the implementation as good as I understood how. It worked but shutdown was messy. But using the principals in your web explanation helped me tighten up the code. The app was previously suffering from sync problems when shutting down the dialog. All clean now. And I understand a little more about threads.. Anyone ...

Reduce CImageList memory consumption
Does anyone have any idea how I can load the images in a CImageList dynamically as the user scroll the list? I need to do this becuase if the list contains many images (e.g privewing thumbnails of a dircetory with a lot of pictures in it) It consumes a lot of memory. The memory of process grows during de Transform method call. I've already tried use a FileStream to keep memory free but has no effect. Any ideas? Thanks. arochax@gmail.com ...

svchost.exe consumes CPU memory
I'm running Windows XP Home, Version 5.1, Service Pack 3 with 2GB RAM. When the machine is connected to the internet (no applications open), a svchost.exe file consumes about 90% of CPU and the machine grinds to a halt. I installed RegCure to clean the registry files in an unsuccessful attempt to fix. I run AVG Internet Security V 8.5.432. Th...

Post Again: Out of Memory" on a machine with 2GB RAM:-(
Hi, Just got a totally new machine running Windows XP SP1, with 2G RAM and lots of HD space. I was so anxious to test the full power of the new machine with an image processing program developed with VC++/MFC 6.0. On one occasion, I just tried to read a list of large images into RAM, whose total size is a bit over 1 GB. Its implementation is something like this: unsigned char *t = new unsigned char [BIG_NUMBER]; // BIG_NUMBER is the total size of images, a bit over 1 GB if( t == NULL ) { AfxMessageBox ("Out of Memory"); delete [] t; exit(-1); } I thought it would be ...
