Cwnd::CreateEx creates a window under Win2k that looks like Win 3.1!

This is a weird one. I'm creating a window for a class derived from
CWnd using CreateEx. The window is created and it is perfectly usable.
However, all of its widgets, and its style in general is that of
Windows 3.1! I don't understand how this can be. My code:

CString my_class = AfxRegisterWndClass(CS_VREDRAW | CS_HREDRAW,
					::LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW),
					(HBRUSH) ::GetStockObject(WHITE_BRUSH),
					::LoadIcon(NULL, IDI_APPLICATION));

BOOL status = mInterpreter->CreateEx(	WS_EX_APPWINDOW|WS_EX_CLIENTEDGE|
WS_EX_WINDOWEDGE,
		my_class, _T("Python Interpreter"), WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|
WS_BORDER,
		CRect(0, 0, 800, 600), NULL /* parent */, NULL, NULL);

This is VC2005 under Win2k.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Version 8.0.50727.42

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!! Thanks

I should point out that this application already displays a CWnd that
has the correct style. I don't want this new window to be a child of
the original one.

Have you used Spy++ to compare window styles?

The styles are:

WS_CAPTION
WS_VISIBLE
WS_CLIPSIBLINGS
WS_SYSMENU
WS_THICKFRAME
WS_OVERLAPPED
WS_MINIMISE_BOX
WS_MAXIMISE_BOX

WS_EX_LEFT
WS_EX_LTRREADING
WS_EX_RIGHTSCROLLBAR
WS_EX_OVERLAPPED_WINDOW
WS_EX_APPWINDOW

The weird thing is, some features of the window don't work. For
example, it contains a CRichEditCtrl, which is set to auto-vscroll
when you add text. It doesn't auto-scroll. If I implement the same
window as a dialog, it works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Also, CTRL+C and CTRL+ V (i.e. copy and paste) don't work in the
CRichEditCtrl in this window. But if I create the same window as a
dialog, copy and paste work fine.

There is a different default window procedure for a dialog, DefDlgProc,
that handles things differently than DefWindowProc. This is just a guess,
but maybe WM_GETDLGCODE is involved?

If you mean, am I using WM_GETDLGCODE then no, there's no sign of this
in my code.

Thanks

No, I meant that DefDlgProc is sending it to the richedit control, which
maybe is taking that opportunity to handle Ctrl+V and friends. Or maybe
DefDlgProc is using an accelerator table, determining the type of control
that has the focus, and sending an appropriate message to controls whose
type it recognizes. You can do this yourself.

Ok, so when I'm creating the widgets in my CTempWindow (derived from
CWnd say), messages aren't necessarily being routed to them?

There wouldn't be.  The default would be used.  If you are in a dialog, it will be called;
if you are not in a dialog, it won't be called.

DPM 2010 Remote Agent Install (windows firewall settings)
I'm looking for the specific ports I need to unblock in order to push the agent from the console. All the documentation references point to firewall settings for the DPM server. I'm only interested in the windows firewall settings on the client (protected machine) necessary to push the agent. If I manually install on the client the installer opens the correct ports on the firewall for the agent to function so I'm not even concerned about those settings. I just need to be able to install/uninstall from the console and have been unable to do so unless I turn off the...

Problem running MS CRM 3.0 over SSL (https)
I have setup an install of Microsoft CRM 3.0 on a high spec Windows 2003 Small Business Server and it all worked happily. I then generated an SSL certificate and applied it to the site in IIS. Initially when you load CRM (using the web client) it loads the left hand menu and navigation panes and shows the top menus and the user which is logged in however to main content area remains blank. After a time out period the error "An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system administrator" appears. The strange thing is you can navigate the menus etc and even edit...

Stumped with LIKE query
I have a MS Access database (from Office XP) to catalog my movies in. Here's my dilemma... I have Shrek 1 an 2. From within Access, how can I query the names so Shrek and Shrek 2 are both returned? I either get one or nothing. Here's what I have tried (among other things): SELECT Table1.MovieName, Table1.MovieYear, Table1.Category, Table1.Rating, Table1.Plot FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.MovieName Like [Enter Movie Name]; That returns only "Shrek" and not "Shrek 2". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----- SELECT Table1.M...

Creating a time chart
Can someone tell me if this is possible. I want to be able to create a chart that represents a week. There will be seven bars and each bar will represent the day my business is open. I want to be able to enter starting times in one column, let's say column B and a quitting times in column C. These two columns represent Sunday. I want D and E to represent Monday. I'll do this for all seven days. Is there a way I can create a stacking bar chart (or any chart) that will place a bar representing that employee's shift in the chart. All bars will not start on the horizontal axis, b...

Using tables created in 2003 IN 2007
My office has recently upgraded to 2007. I enjoy new features such as the ability to highlight a few words within the table without the ENTIRE table's font changing; unfortunately, this only works in tables I have created since the upgrade. My old tables that were brought over from 2003 do not have this capability. Is there an add-on out there? I do not have to resort to re-typing and creating all new tables. PS. Copy and pasting into a new table does not work. Convertting the file using the office button does not work. Help? please? I think you talking about what is called...

Creating forwarding rule in Exchange
Exchange 2003 SP2 If I have user fee@domain.com receiving email at address fee@domain.com, is it possible to create a rule in Exchange that does this: All emails from user@outsidedomain.com that go to fee@domain.com should be forwarded to foo@domain.com If it is possible, and I do not have a domain user named foo, would I have to create one or simply create a contact in order for the mailbox to be created? 1. You need some recipient to have the email address fee@domain.com 2. No native facility to selectively forward mail from a particular smtp address only. You could either do it usi...
