If you search for *.pub you will find all Publisher files.

If you search for *bob*.pub you will find all Publisher files with bob
in the name.

If you search for bob.pub you will find all Publisher files called bob.pub.

yes, the standard search for all or part of file name, or text in a file
doesn't seem to access publisher files.

If you use the standard Windows search (from the Start Button) it doesn't
seem to work... At least not without jumping through hoops:)

However (in Pub 2003 - Win XP, anyway) when you go into the Open Publication
dialog click the Tools button in the dialog's toolbar & select Search. That
feature will find on the basis of content. I'd suggest, however, that you
limit the search to a single folder at any given time as content searches
can take quite a while to complete.

CyberTaz,

This feature is very important to me for accomplishing a weekly task. Using
the seach in the Open File is a good work around; but I have to search a
specific folder under my network places and then under the Shared Folder on
my secretary's computer. Consequently the Search under Open File doesn't let
you choose a specific folder under My Network Places.

What are the "jumping through hoops" that your reference below. I think I
am willing to jump through some of those hoops.

files in web page not located in expected location
I have created a web publication and when I "publish to the web" the home page comes up just fine. However when I click on the next page which is a calendar, I get a message that says "some of the files in this web page aren't in the expected location. Do you want to download anyway?" When I say yes it shows the page, but not the way it is supposed to look. The calendar is larger than the page. Hyperlink field that does not link to the file

Search in Contacts
Under Workplace->Customers->Contacts view search for a specific contact through "Find" is very slow on our system. Looking at the query level, I've found that it is a little overkill, which has many fields in the criteria "OR"ed together, each doing a "LIKE" comparison with a wildcard character in the source string. It is comparing the source, most likely a substring of a name, with StateCode, MiddleName, FullName, EMailAddress1, ParentCustomerIdName, and Address1_City. This a new entry for a previously reported problem. The original problem is that I am unable to save Word 2003 files in normal mode. The message indicates that I do not have enough HDD or RAM space. Neither case is true. I can save files by running Word in XP compatibility mode but I then can't open a file from outside Word by clicking on it. FRX should be able to print to PDF file without using WebView.
Printing to PDF file format is now a common form of electronic distribution of files and reports. It is surprising to see that through MS Great Plains, we can print to a pdf file format, but MS FRx requires another program to be installed to print to PDF format file(s). At the moment, we are printing to Excel and making few format changes and then saving it to a PDF format. huge file bloat when using TEMPLATES??!?!
I work on a product where I ship both debug and release DLLs. I have noticed that my debug DLL has packed on about 300k after writing code that uses MFC and ATL templates. Doubt it, MFC debug info really packs on the pounds - My main app ships at 200kb release and its 700 in debug.
