HELP! Need to export hourly sales data on POS (NOT RMS)

How can I export hourly sales data across a date range? For instance, I
want to show hourly sales for the month of October so I can graph it and
post it in our break room.

If I can't export hourly data, can I export daily sales?

The built-in reports don't address this data format.

Mark, This should work for you. Keep in mind it takes up to 5-10 minutes to
load the sales data.

Craig,

You advised placing the attached .qrp file in my Reports folder under the
Microsoft Point of Sale directory; however, there is no Reports folder under
that directory. How do I import this custom report?

All my default reports are .xml files.

Remember, this is Point of Sale, not RMS or RMS POS.

Mark

You will need to provide way more info then you have!
Product Name, Version # is the min.

The other would be what operating system, and some basic structure of
directories will be required.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of the POS software for real
help....remember you get what you pay for!

Okay.

I am using MICROSOFT POINT OF SALE v.1.0 Binaries Version 2.0.1112.0

I am NOT using MICROSOFT RETAIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

I want to create or import a report I can export to Excel. This report
should itemize sales by hour in a given range (for example, one day, one
week or one month).

I was provided by respondent Craig a .QRP file containing a query for
producing a report such as I require; however, instructions for using the
..QRP file directed me to paste the file into the Reports folder withint the
Point of Sale folder on the same hard drive on which POINT OF SALE is
installed. MICROSOFT POINT OF SALE does NOT have a folder titled Reports
(installed folders are: Addins, Backups, Content, Database, eLearning, Logs,
OPOS, Refresh, and Temp --- no subfolders titled Reports either), and the
default reports included with the product are .XML files, not .QRP files.

When we run our X Report, sales by hour is included at the base of the
report. We can view via the POS application sales by hour for any date
simply by changing the date parameter to the given date we wish to view.
What I require is a method to export such hourly sales data in a format I
can import into Excel for producing at-a-glance graphs.

If POINT OF SALE can display this info when you enter the appropriate date,
how do I export this data?

Mark,

Its been a while since I've looked at MSPOS because it doesn't run on =

Try Reports | Sales | Department Sales | select your date(s) on the left =

Mark,

To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?=20

To add a new report, properly written in .XML for MSPOS, Manager | Tools =
| File Center | Reports | Custom | Add File.

If you want to modify an existing report, find it in the same place and =
select which report you want to customize. Select the Save File menu =
and save it to your desired location. Modify and rename it and add it =
back to the Custom section described above. Do not save a modified =
report file as the same name as it was, otherwise it will be overwritten =
with the next MSPOS update.

As you have found out, most people are using RMS in this newsgroup and =
some don't even know about the MSPOS program's existence. Continue to =

MSPOS, but understand that some will still post references to RMS. Just =

have, but I would suggest that you think about upgrading to the MSPOS =
3.0 product when it arrives also next year. Should be around the same =

Before all of you lurkers reading this message ask, we still haven't =

Jeff,

My XML is passable, and I can use other reports as a template. The
impediment is locating which tables house the info I want. I've searched
the database schema using sp_help but remain unable to find how the hourly
sales info is pulled when you select F7 | Graph | Hourly.

Mark,

To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?

To add a new report, properly written in .XML for MSPOS, Manager | Tools |
File Center | Reports | Custom | Add File.

If you want to modify an existing report, find it in the same place and
select which report you want to customize. Select the Save File menu and
save it to your desired location. Modify and rename it and add it back to
the Custom section described above. Do not save a modified report file as
the same name as it was, otherwise it will be overwritten with the next
MSPOS update.

As you have found out, most people are using RMS in this newsgroup and some
don't even know about the MSPOS program's existence. Continue to post in the

  Jeff,

  My XML is passable, and I can use other reports as a template. The=20
  impediment is locating which tables house the info I want. I've =
searched=20
  the database schema using sp_help but remain unable to find how the =
hourly=20
  sales info is pulled when you select F7 | Graph | Hourly.

  Mark,

  To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?

  To add a new report, properly written in .XML for MSPOS, Manager | =
Tools |=20
  File Center | Reports | Custom | Add File.

  If you want to modify an existing report, find it in the same place =
and=20
  select which report you want to customize. Select the Save File menu =
and=20
  save it to your desired location. Modify and rename it and add it =
back to=20
  the Custom section described above. Do not save a modified report =
file as=20
  the same name as it was, otherwise it will be overwritten with the =
next=20
  MSPOS update.

  As you have found out, most people are using RMS in this newsgroup and =
some=20
  don't even know about the MSPOS program's existence. Continue to post =
in the=20
  Subject line and within the post itself that you are using MSPOS, but=20
  understand that some will still post references to RMS. Just ignore =
them.

  Next year with RMS 3.0, there will more compatibility and knowledge =
about=20
  the MSPOS program as RMS will be a enhanced version of what you have, =
but I=20
  would suggest that you think about upgrading to the MSPOS 3.0 product =
when=20
  it arrives also next year. Should be around the same timeframe.

  Before all of you lurkers reading this message ask, we still haven't =
been=20
  told as to when it will ship, but I'm betting on a January =
announcement with=20
  an April ship date, same as this year.
