HELP! Need to export hourly sales data on POS (NOT RMS)

How can I export hourly sales data across a date range? For instance, I
want to show hourly sales for the month of October so I can graph it and
post it in our break room.

If I can't export hourly data, can I export daily sales?

The built-in reports don't address this data format.

Mark, This should work for you. Keep in mind it takes up to 5-10 minutes to
load the sales data.

Craig,

You advised placing the attached .qrp file in my Reports folder under the
Microsoft Point of Sale directory; however, there is no Reports folder under
that directory. How do I import this custom report?

All my default reports are .xml files.

Remember, this is Point of Sale, not RMS or RMS POS.

Mark

You will need to provide way more info then you have!
Product Name, Version # is the min.

The other would be what operating system, and some basic structure of
directories will be required.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of the POS software for real
help....remember you get what you pay for!

Okay.

I am using MICROSOFT POINT OF SALE v.1.0 Binaries Version 2.0.1112.0

I am NOT using MICROSOFT RETAIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

I want to create or import a report I can export to Excel. This report
should itemize sales by hour in a given range (for example, one day, one
week or one month).

I was provided by respondent Craig a .QRP file containing a query for
producing a report such as I require; however, instructions for using the
..QRP file directed me to paste the file into the Reports folder withint the
Point of Sale folder on the same hard drive on which POINT OF SALE is
installed. MICROSOFT POINT OF SALE does NOT have a folder titled Reports
(installed folders are: Addins, Backups, Content, Database, eLearning, Logs,
OPOS, Refresh, and Temp --- no subfolders titled Reports either), and the
default reports included with the product are .XML files, not .QRP files.

When we run our X Report, sales by hour is included at the base of the
report. We can view via the POS application sales by hour for any date
simply by changing the date parameter to the given date we wish to view.
What I require is a method to export such hourly sales data in a format I
can import into Excel for producing at-a-glance graphs.

If POINT OF SALE can display this info when you enter the appropriate date,
how do I export this data?

Mark,

Its been a while since I've looked at MSPOS because it doesn't run on =

Try Reports | Sales | Department Sales | select your date(s) on the left =

Mark,

To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?=20

To add a new report, properly written in .XML for MSPOS, Manager | Tools =
| File Center | Reports | Custom | Add File.

If you want to modify an existing report, find it in the same place and =
select which report you want to customize. Select the Save File menu =
and save it to your desired location. Modify and rename it and add it =
back to the Custom section described above. Do not save a modified =
report file as the same name as it was, otherwise it will be overwritten =
with the next MSPOS update.

As you have found out, most people are using RMS in this newsgroup and =
some don't even know about the MSPOS program's existence. Continue to =

MSPOS, but understand that some will still post references to RMS. Just =

have, but I would suggest that you think about upgrading to the MSPOS =
3.0 product when it arrives also next year. Should be around the same =

Before all of you lurkers reading this message ask, we still haven't =

Jeff,

My XML is passable, and I can use other reports as a template. The
impediment is locating which tables house the info I want. I've searched
the database schema using sp_help but remain unable to find how the hourly
sales info is pulled when you select F7 | Graph | Hourly.

Mark,

To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?

To add a new report, properly written in .XML for MSPOS, Manager | Tools |
File Center | Reports | Custom | Add File.

If you want to modify an existing report, find it in the same place and
select which report you want to customize. Select the Save File menu and
save it to your desired location. Modify and rename it and add it back to
the Custom section described above. Do not save a modified report file as
the same name as it was, otherwise it will be overwritten with the next
MSPOS update.

As you have found out, most people are using RMS in this newsgroup and some
don't even know about the MSPOS program's existence. Continue to post in the

  Mark,

To answer your other question about creating reports, how's your XML?

Pivot Table not pulling all fields or data
Hi All........ Without getting too verbose, I have a 900 row by 26 column database I am applying a Pivot Table to. The code seems to run fine, but it is not returning some of the fields, and of course the related data. I have tried reformatting the entire columns I am pulling from but no joy......however, when I reformat an errant cell from General to TEXT, that row comes in........and/or, if I change the value in one of the missing cells, it will bring that row in. The code runs fine, and was mostly derived by recording a macro in XL2k, but the data cannot be trusted becau...

How do I automatiicaly redefinie Source data range for a chart?

I would like to be able to have the chart automatically redefine itself so if I put a value in C115 the chart would automaticaly set Y value range to be C4:C115 eithout having to manually define chart. Is this possible? If so how? I've tried OFFSET bu so far no luck. Hi, If you turn your data cells into a List, or Table in xl2007, the chart will auto expand. The named range approach will work if you set up the names correctly. See here for more info...

Data vs. forms & Unload/reload questions
A .mdb file seems to encompass both the database and all the 'code' (forms, modules, and logic) used to CRUD the data in the tables. 1) Is there any way to separate the database from the code into separate files, eg. the db is mydata.mdb and the 'code is in a separate file, eg. code.mdb? 2) Say you have v1.0 of an app and the tables and attributes are populated with data. You then go and build v2.0 of the app, adding tables and columns to what already existed in v1.0, and perhaps moving some of the v1.0 attributes into different tables. SOP Sales Markdown % calculation
Hi, I've got a situation in SOP entry where we have to enter Markdown % for each line item and the decimal currency is BHD, 3 decimals. If the Unit Price is BD1.000, markdown is 14.85%, the markdown price is calculated as BD 0.149 rounding off to 3 decimals. However actual markdown should be BD 0.1485. This small difference does matter alot when large quantities involve. Say if we multiply a quantity of 1000000 with 0.1485, the markdown price would be BD148500 whereas with 0.149, the same would be BD 149000 resulting in BD 500 difference which is huge.
