Out of Office Assiatance issues - MS Outlook 2002

Hi all,

One of our users (UserA) is having issues receiving an Out of Office
confirmation email when he emails a particular user (UserB).
For test purposes I emailed this users (UserB) and received the out of
office response.

The UserA is able to receive other emails and there is no mailbox size
restriction in place.

What else can be done to investigate and resolve this issue.

Version of Outlook the user is using is Microsoft Outlook 2002 (
10.2627.2625 ) no Service Pack.

And these users are all connected to the same Exchange server?

Check if User A has any rules configured that can cause this or a local
spam-filter.

Also note that the user only receives the OOF message once. To reset the OOF
user B should disable it (additionally a restart Outlook never hurts) and
then enable it again.

Ideally the out of office message should be sent out on each receipt of new
email, regardless if its the same person on the same day.
Thx for you speedy response btw, much appreciated.

You can use a Wizard Rule for this then. Make sure you set some exceptions
or you could end up with endless mail loops.

A Wizard rule on everyones outlook?

Does seem practical when considering that I now know that everyone in the
orgonazation using OOOA will only repond once to emails sent by clients that
their out the office.

Is there a setting in exchange i can use?

1) Yep, just like everyone needs to configure OOF

2) Nope, rules are per account

what i meant to say is, it does not seem practical to go around everyones
outlook and setting rules/out of office setting to woork int he manner i
discussed before.
Exchange really should take ownership in managing how OOOA should behave,
ie. respond to every email received and not just the first email receive
from a sender.

allowing relaying... security issues
We are using Exchange 2000 on an SBS 2000 machine. We signed up with Spam Soap - an outside company to provide incoming/outgoing SMTP mail filtering . As part of their service, you also configure them as a "smart host". This is configured in the virtual SMTP Server area - in the advanced options for delivery. Also, in order to have this work properly, the SMTP Connector we had configured in the 'Connectors' area also had to be removed. We have an in-house VB .net application that automatically sends auto-generated emails. This particular application is configured and...

MS POS = RMS? Also, SQL Connectivity...
I'm new to MS Dynamics software, and I may be posting this in the wrong section - please let me know if I am. I have recently opened a retail store, and purchased MS Point of Sale to manage my POS functions. Is this software also called RMS? Is it a PART of RMS? From what I can find online, I cannot tell. Also, I'm interested in connecting to MS POS's MS SQL database with an external program (OSQL) to automate some SQL queries at the end of each day. Does anyone know what I use for the datebase name (master?), username (sa?), and password? I cannot seem to find any doc...

How to move MS Office without reinstalling?
I have an iMac that has had Microsoft Office on it since 2002 or so. Other family members have bought MS Office as well since then. They are all v. X. Each has a unique product ID and the only disc copy I can find for installing MS Office has a key on it. I don't know if it was my original copy. I will soon be reinstalling an OS on the iMac and in the process, I will have to wipe it clean. Is it possible to copy all of the MS Office files to appropriate backup locations, then copy them back when the install is done so I do not have to reinstall from the disc and risk it not be...
