Outlook needs Outlook Express to workI've installed my Outlook 2002 on my new Vista PC (I had Xp before). Now when
I start Outlook it says "requires Outlook Express 4.01 or greater". I've been
looking for Outlook Express to download and install but no joy. No CD came
with my new Vista PC. Any ideas, short of buying a more modern Outlook?
Vista doesn't actually support Outlook 2002 or older. Outlook Express is
part of Internet Explorer but with the advent of Vista, it was switched to
Windows Mail. There is no more Outlook Express.
You could attempt however to create a profile using workgroup or c...
outlook.exe not terminatingI'm running Office XP with Outlook 2002 under Windows XP
Pro, current as of today, except that I have reverted the
IE update to the previous version of mshtml.dll that
scrolls correctly (this has had no effect on the problem
I am about to describe). I typically have a lot of
applications running - no big deal as I have a 3.04 P4
with 1GB of memory. A problem that happens several times
a day is that outlook.exe remains in the Task Manager
process list after I shut Outlook down. In older
versions, there used to be a message that said "Please

Max number of Rules in OutlookHi everyone:
Just a simple question that may be a common curiosity:
does anyone know what is the max number of rules I can set
up in Outlook?
I have reached about 70 rules and the I get the message
that there is no further space on the server.
Maybe it is just a matter of room and the number it is not
a limitation?
Thanks for answering.
Cheers
That's it indeed; you can only store up to 32KB of e-mail rules. Disabled
rules don't count but you're properly better of combining some rules or see
if they are still needed.

That means exactly what it says: At index 63 XML parser found a byte, which is
invalid either according document's encoding or is forbidden in XML documents
at all (see list of allowed in XML characters at

Outlook 2003 and "Check Names"Hi,
We are testing Outlook 2003 at our office now and there is
one very frustrating "feature" that is bugging all of us.
When we create a new e-mail message and type in the first
name of a person from the global address book and hit ctrl-
k to check the name...we get a response that Outlook
doesn't recognize the name and there are "no suggestions".
The only way Check Name will successfully resolve the name
is if we type it last name first (ie, Gates, Bill). This
was not the case in Office XP or Outlook 2000. You could
search by first name (or partial first name)...

Unexpected error message on closing an Excel fileSuddenly I am getting the following message when I try to close a workbook:

Verify that the path, workbook, and range name or cell reference are

The mysterious thing is that it does not happen consistently and that, after
I click OK after the above message, I can still save the file.
What might be the cause of this error message and can the "invalid

Linker Error after upgrade from VC7.1Hello all,
After upgrading a VC7.1 project to visual studio 2005, it failed to build in
the release configuration with the follwoing error :
1>nafxcw.lib(winocc.obj) : error LNK2005: "public: class CWnd * __thiscall
CWnd::GetDlgItem(int)const " (?GetDlgItem@CWnd@@QBEPAV1@H@Z) already defined
in InstallDlg.obj
The debug build works fine.
The project uses MFC in a static library.
Well, after doing some research, it seems that this one is tied to the fact
that in a release configuration, _AFX_ENABLE_INLINES is defined, so inline
functions are embedded in the .obj file.
Sure there...
