Managing spam emails - avoiding web bugs etc

Hello,

I have recently started using Outlook 2k3 and have a couple of questions
about handling spam emails.

I know you can just right-click on the Junk folder and delete all the
messages inside. But, I like to at least preview the message list in the Junk
folder before deleting everything, so that I can make sure that messages I
want aren't being misdirected there and deleted by mistake.

I know that often, just opening a spam email will activate an invisible "web
bug" in web-based email that alerts the spammer that you've opened their
message, and then they send you even more of their crap.

My questions:
1. Is it possible, when previewing a message list in Outlook, to click
on/select individual messages in the list to delete them, but NOT open them
in the preview pane when you click on/select them?

2. Does opening a message in Outlook activate a web bug just like opening
the same message from a web-based email inbox would? I suspect it does only
because after "opening" (by clicking on it in the message list) one spam, I'm
now getting at least 8 to 10 messages per day from what looks like the same
spammer.

Thanks,

Catti

Outlook 2K3 doesn't load web bugs by default. It doesn't download any web
content unless you explicitly tell it to (or unless the sender is on your
safe senders list; in which case their message wouldn't be in the Junk
E-mail folder)

Email messages getting stuck when receiving
I have something weird happening here... on multiple computers a send/receive will start, will say 'Receiving message # of # (###KB of ###KB) and just stop, eventually timing out. We have a router with two WAN ports with two different ISP connections. When I unplug the WAN1, messages come through no problem. So obviously it seems to be a problem with this connection but I've contacted them and we can't figure it out. We have POP3 email which is not hosted by either ISP. Anyone else have something similar happen to them? This is on XP Pro systems with a combination of ...

Receiving emails twice
I am using Outlook 2007. I installed it today and everytime I receive an email, it seems to be coming in twice. Any reason why this is happening and how can I stop it. Thanks. If you're polling too frequently for email this may happen. Decrease polling frequency to 10 minutes. Also, virus scanning your incoming/outgoing mail can cause this as well. You can safely disable this feature without compromising security, your real time scanner will catch things. Note that in order for this to function properly, you may have to uninstall and reinstall antivirus and omit the email sc...

Blind copy every sent message to manager
Is it possible to set it up to where every email an employee sends is blind copied to their manager? My director has come to me asking that this be done. It needs to be done without the employee's knowledge. The only way to do this is to move the user to a separate mailbox store and enable journaling. Probably not a good idea to point the journaling at the manager though. pointing it at a journaling mailbox and then giving the manager permissions to it would be better. Email Notification when task is completed for CRM 3.0
Hi there, I would like to know if its is possible to create a workflow that will create an email notification to the owner(created by) when the task is completed? Any ideas would be appreciated? Tx Thandiwe Yes, you can do that. the basic premise is to watch activities after they are created and then take the action of sending an e-mail when the activity is closed. You may need to add a line in the workflow where you capture the current data time and then wait for the activity modified date to become greater than the custom date you just set. once that happens, check to see if t...

How do I center an email being sent from Publisher?
I am trying to get the message to appear in the middle of the email message. It would be great if I could learn how to do a color border too. Why not compose your email as a publication? Center your message, draw a rectangle around the creation, give the line a color and send it to the back. Save the whole message as a .jpg and send. It will be an attachment. You also can convert the publication to a web page and send. If your recipient has HTML enabled in their mail program, the message will remain centered. A PDF will work too, like the .jpg option, it will arrive as an attachment. ...
