VS2005/Vista issues
I spoke too soon about VS2005 Vista SP1 being more reliable; doing rather trivial single-threaded app debugging, I've managed to crash it six times in the last hour. Each time it seems to crash for a different reason, or at least as the consequence of some completely different action on my part. For those who have been using it, however, I've got a couple questions: It must be run as administrator, which requires an administrator password. What I'd like to do is set myself up to run as a normal user, but with the privileges of running as administrator whenever I want to with ...

Hotmail Inbox in Outlook Issue
I am using Windows XP Professional (SP2) with Office 2002. I have a Hotmail account that I access thru Outlook. For the last few days, I have been unable to access my Hotmail Inbox. When I click on the Icon, instead of opening my Inbox, Outlook is trying to send me to: http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/office/redirect/10/OutlookHotmailNav.asp?viewonly=1&f0=72l111l116l109l97l105l108&f1=73l110l98l111l120 which just displays in Outlook as a blank page. Does anyone know of a solution to this issue? Thanks dangerousdj@yahoo.com <dangerousdj@yahoo.com> wrote: > I am using Windo...

OWA Issue #2
I have some internal and external client that can connect to the owa side but get errors on the page which stops them from accessing mail and vieng anything but the subject line. All the clients are running eplorer 6 with all the service packs. The look identical in every way Sounds like there may be some issues with either the Security or Privacy options in Internet Options. I'd check the configuration of a working workstation then compare it against a workstation that isn't working. Also what what particular error message are they getting on that page? >-----Original Messag...

How to handle false positives when using anti-spam, anti-junk e-mail solutions
I have purchased GFI MailEssentiasl10 and so far that seems to be working fine. I think false positives will happen especially in the begnning of our implementation, and I would like to confirm what's the best way to handle that. What I am doing here is that I asked management to designate an assistant that should read on the e-mails caught by the junk filter and notify recipient in case she suspects that is a false positive. Any other ideas ? Someone is going to have to look. Most businesses can't afford false positives. That's one of the bigest reasons we went for iHateSpam ...

Same Domain name Mail Issue
What is the behavior of Exchange 2003 supposed to be when it receives a message from the "outside" or another mail server that has the same domain name as the domain it is responsible for? We have our website and on it is a feature that sends an email when people have questions and fill out a form. The email containing the info from the form is sent to one of the accounts on our internally hosted exchange server. It never arrives. It works to non-exchange accounts outside of our organization (gmail, yahoo etc). The messages come with the "from address" of nobody@some...

Exchange limits warning not being issued
I set up a storage limit policy to set exchange to "limit warning at" 100000 kb (100 megabytes). I have verified that the policy is applied to the private information store. I set up maximum diagnostic logging on the limit to see the event 1077 is being issued, and it does contain the list of all the users that have exceeded the limit. So I know the policy is running, and I know there are users that have exceeded the limit. I did not set any other limit (prohibit send or prohibit send and receive). My problem is that the system attendant is not sending emails to he users...

External Link Issue
I have come across something rather bizarre that I hope someone can answer. I opened a workbook in excel, we will call it Book1, that has external links, I opt to "Don't Update". In the workbook are links to someone's C: drive and as far as I am aware I don't have access to their drive. Also FYI ... The status bar in the lower right says "Ready" ... not "Calculate". Plus, if I hit "F9" the numbers remain the same. When I look at a cell "D10" it shows $90. Then I open a copy of the same file but named Book2 .... Book1 is still ope...

winmail.dat attachment issue...
For soem reason, just recently, one of the dealer we regualry deal with via email has reported he has been receiving a winmail.dat attachement with our email messages. We are using Outlook 2002 clients and Exchange 2000. He is using the Outlook 2000 client. I did some research that said that this is a formatting file and that Outlook creates this file everytime but if the client on the other end can understand it, they will not get the winmail.dat attachment. Since he is using Outlook, you would think this would not be an issue... We have not had any one else complain of this... Is there so...

Outlook issues after Exchange migration
We recently migrated Exchange 5.5 mailboxes to Exchange 2003 on a new domain. This was performed with the exmerge utility in a 2 step process. Now there are 2 issues with Oulook: 1) When a user types a recipient name into the address field, the name autocompletes as normal. But when the mail is sent, a message returns saying it is undeliverable. However, if the user goes into the Contacts folder and from there selects the same user to send a message to, it is successful. 2) If a user shares a calendar, specifying the user with whom to share and the level of permissions, all users in ...

New DPM2010 RC isntall. A few issues
I'm testing DPM2010 RC with some clients and have run across a few things I thought I would post here. I have the server hooked up to 2 clients 1 XP and 1 Win7 and on both of them in the DPM GUI on the client if I click on the Recover tab and then the search icon I get an error. The server is listed correctly, as DMP.domain.local and the clients are being protected. The error is: Unable to contact the DPM server. The specified server does not exist or is not compatible with the DPM Client. Recommendations: 1: Make sure DPM server name is correct. 2: Contact your DPM admin...

Replication Issues between Exchange 2003 and Exchange 5.5
We have recently installed exchange 2003 server on our network and are in the process of migrating users mailboxes. We have migrated 23 mailboxes so far, the first few were done individualy then a group of about 8 users were migrated, the move wizard started moving four of the eight mailboxes and scheduled the others, this failed initialy as a user was still logged in to Outlook. The process was repeated and completed succesfully. Now from the client side in Outlook it is showing as the new exchange server but the users are not recieving mail, the last copy in the inboxes is from before the mi...

Junk Mail Filtering Issue on an Existing Exchange Server
Hi all, I have an interesting issue using the IMF features of Exchange 2003 SP2 and I'm having a tough time tracking down the issue. I'm in the process of implementing the MS Messaging Security Suite. I have two clusters, one four node backed by a NetApp SAN in DC and one two node backed by an HP MSA storage device in Florida. I just implemented the DC cluster and I inherited the Florida cluster. The clusters are in two different routing groups, but same administrative group. Only one SMTP connector is shared. I've stood up MSS (Antigen AV and Spam) on my SMTP relays and configu...

Service Module used to track software development issues
I have a client who develops software, and is very keen on MSCRM for both Sales and Service. However, they are looking at an additional product to track software bugs and development issues. I can't see why the service module can't handle this. Does anyone have any experience or know of any companies using MSCRM for this purpose? Any assistance will, as always, be gratefully appreciated. Cathy Allington Client Relationship Marketing P/L I agree that you could use the service module for this. I would advise you to scan the internet for packages dedicated to software bug tracking et...

.NET XMLDocument Save issue
Hi, Currently we are using the .NET XMLDocument Class to manipulate some xml documents. The issue we are having is that when we save the XML files using the classes save method, empty xml tags will be saved with a CRLF instead of the empty value. This can be solved by setting the PreserveWhiteSpace property to true. But then the indentation is lost. E.g.:- Before Saving this is how the tags are. <Test></Test> After saving <Test> </Test> Has anybody come across this, is there any solution for this. Thanks Amendra. ...

excel 2000 vs 2003: drop-down box locking issues
Hi, I've been using drop down list boxes in an excel 2003 worksheet. In 2003, I am able to lock the cell with the drop down box and protect the worksheet, which then prevents anyone from selecting a new value from the drop down boxes and changing the contents of that cell. However, when I try the same procedure in excel 2000, the drop down box never locks (though it's property says it's locked), and can still allow new selections from the box. Does anyone know of a workaround for this, or is this just a flaw in 2000? Thanks! In Excel 2000 and earlier versions, you can...

Sync Issues
Ok, I've seen other people run into this, but it seems no-one has an answer to it: Symptoms: Your "Sync Issues" starts getting clogged with entries named "Synchronization Log" and with an error description "Error synchronizing message...". It happens whenever somebody else starts creating appointments and and uses the "track in crm". You get it every time your outlook tries to sync. with the Exchange server; on my laptop, around 2 mails/minute. You also get a copy of the calendar entry in the "Local Failures", virtually doubleing th...

Macintosh Word X Indentation Issue
I am using Microsoft Office Mac X purchased December 24, 2003. Problem: I have a 250 page document, suddently the first line of each = page=20 is indenting and I am having to go to the individual pages to drop the=20 opening line down to eliminate the indent. The only explanation I can think of -- I had originally number the = pages,=20 then using the header/footer facility in View Mode, I deleted the page=20 numbers, creating this formatting inconsistency, which is extremely=20 disabling. I tried copying the full document onto another blank = document=20 but the formatting carried over. ...

Exchange 2003 "send as" issue.
Hi, A client of ours uses SBS 2003 and would like certain users to be able to send "as" other users. They can "send on behalf" however the email then states "sent by xxxxx on behalf of yyyyyy" which is not what they want. They want the email to appear as though it has come from another user. Administrator can achieve this yet no other users can - even when full permission is granted to the mailbox etc. We have previously been able to do this with SBS 2000 (or full Exchange 2000) yet it appears to be different in 2003. The error reported is "you do not h...
