you can use a script and make a copy before you open outlook or use a backup
tool to make a copy of the pst and your other files as needed.

Outlook 2003 access to Hamster IMAP fails
I was using Outlook 2003 with Hamster Classic 2.0.0.1 Everything was fine until the Microsoft update 2 weeks ago. When I closed Outlook the processor went to 100%. This seems to be a know bug of Hamster 2.0.0.1 based on pasts posts to the Hamster newsgroup. I therefore upgraded Hamster to 2.1.0.11. Now Outlook 2003 continually locks up. There are no problems with Outlook 2002 or any other email client including Thunderbird and Outlook Express. The issue is limited to Outlook 2003. The older version of Hamster did not support IDLE. I believe the problem is connected to IDLE. Is there a w...

New with Outlook 2003 and IMAP
We have just been directed that we have to start using Outlook 2003. When I mark an email for trash or junk, I get a line through the topic and it gets grayed out. Is there a setting I can use that will put the email into trash or junk when I identify it as trash or junk? I am also trying to put my address book together. I need to find a way to have any email coming in with the same address (ex: occc_community@sunyorange.edu) or (staffchair-bounce@ots.sunyorange.edu) be made into a rule and make sure it goes to the appropriate folder. I am setup using an IMAP configuration. Any help would b...

I can't back space more than one character or repeat a character,
I was prompted while filing out a form to have duplicate key strokes stopped. I made the mistke of accepting and now I can't type any dupe characters without difficulty (must pause momentarilly) and I can't back space without the same pause. I also cannot find how to disable the thing. This happens in all typing situations, including here. You've probably enabled FilterKeys, one of the Accessibility Options. You can turn it off in Windows Control Panel and at the same time disable the shortcut key that you pressed to enable it. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft M...

Word 2003 stops working
Hi folks, Never had a problem with Word 2003 in the 3 years I've had this program. Suddenly, I have issues. A few minutes into opening a Word document, or upon attempted close of the document, I get a popup box with message "Microsoft Office Word has stopped working. A problem caused the problem to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." When I close the popup, sometimes a new blank "document 1" opens up automatically. This happens with both Word docs and Outlook messages. Don'...

Public Folder replication problems Exchange 2003
We have two Exchange 2003 sites between which we replicate some public folders. This was working fine until recently, when one folder stopped replicating in one direction - i.e. postings made to the replica appear in the original folder, but not vice-versa. At the same time we started receiving numerous 1110 Events: Error 0x4ed occurred while writing per-user information for a.user@company.co.uk on database "First Storage Group\Public Folder Store (SERVER)". The event is repeated multiple times - I assume once for each user, though I haven't actually checked. If neces...

Exchange 2003 Question #6
What would be the implications of installing an Exchange 2003 server on my network, when an Exchange 2000 server already exists? TIA, James A part of the Installation and setup process is to prepare AD for the Exchange implementation (forestprep and domainprep). If you are attempting to install Exchange into the same AD, then it would assume that the same Exchange Org will be used for the new installation of Exchange, causing the 2 to be semi connected (also would depend on site configuration, etc) When you are mentioning "on my network" - are we assuming that you are using ...

Exchange 2003 /Exchweb/Cabs folder
I'm having trouble with OWA in Exchange 2003 Standard (running on Windows 2003 Standard). When trying to access OWA internally, I get placeholders instead of images and the word "Loading...". This seems to be pretty well addressed in KB280823. The problem I'm seeing is that when I remove the virtual folder for Exchweb and recreate it, I do not get a Cabs folder. The rest of the folders are there, but not the Cabs. This folder does not exist in \Program Files\Exchsrvr\Exchweb, either. Where does this folder come from? How can I get it in place? Is it even part o...

How to AUTOMATICALLY reconnect clients on Server after disconnecti
I use MFC Visual C++ 4.2. I have developed a server-client app. Only about 10 clients connected to the Server. Recently, in a week the server has been error 2-3 times. I still don't know what caused it. The error was runtime error like other windows app error which is ended by the dialog of "Send" or "Don't Send" to Microsoft. After it error, an application restarting will make it normal. At that time, I need to re-connect all previously connected clients. Is it possible to be done on the server side only? Money 2003 #4

NDR in 2 Exchange Servers 2003 on 2 domains
Hi, 2 Exchange servers 2003. 2 domains. a.fr and b.fr. The Active Directory domain is xxx.local. Each domain is hosted on a distinct server, on the same Exchange organization. When an email arrives from outside the non delivery receipt is sent from postmaster@xxx.local. As almost every MTA now is checking if the 'from' belongs to a valid domain, this does not work. It is possible to change the NDR originator to postmaster@a.fr or postmaster@b.fr. But this is valid for the whole organisation. And I need the a.fr server to answer with postmaster@a.fr and the b.fr server answer from po...

Postmaster@domain.com messages get queued
I have a handful of domains that show up in my exchange queue that have messages that will not send. They all have some sort of error message like the following: "The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt." "Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS" "The connection was dropped due to an SMTP protocol event sink." The interesting thing is that almost all the messages are from "postmaster" and are destined for bizarre domains like TPNET.DL, MAIL.HQ.COM.AR etc. What exactly does this mean? They're likely replies to NDRs to ...
