ex 03 public folders, contacts, sub folders and outlook 07 adress bookswe want to create a public folder (ex 03) for company contacts that has sub
folders and can be used in outlook 07
If we put top level "shared_contacts" as an address book and then create sub
folders OL 07 can't see or search the sub folders automatically
Also not all permissions seem inherited. Is there some resource that can
help me troubleshoot, or am I missing something obvious?

In the past, you would want to right click on the contact folder and
deselect "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" in Outlook Address
Book tab before killing the folder.

screening spam in outlook express
Why don't e-mail programs give us the option of allowing
in only mail from senders we have specified (such as only
those listed in our address book)?
Then at least we would have the e-mail equivalent of
choosing between an unlisted number and getting
unsolicited calls from telemarketers (Spam).
We would have to manually add any new e-mail subscriptions
we've okayed on-line to our address book, but that is far
less trouble than deleting a lot of Spam.
What do you think?
In Outlook, yes, you can do just that by defining a rule, such as:
Apply this rule after the message ar...

Yes, no problem.
On the child folder, uncheck "Include inheritable permissions from this

Cannot Move Items from Mailbox to Personal Folder Hi!
Sometimes I experience that I cannot move particular message from mailbox to
personal folder, especially on messages that has attachment. Here is the
error message:
Cannot move the items. The item could not be moved. It was either moved or
deleted, or access was denied.
But when I click on OK, the message is still on the mailbox. How can I avoid
this?

I don't know if the AV has something to do with this error.

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the font size of the Folder List

but that will change the way all font in Windows is displayed. Here are the
steps to adjust the Windows DPI setting:
1)Right click on the desktop.

Public Folder Tree default permissionsHello,

Can someone look at the permissions for Everyone in ESM and tell me what

links to public folder documentsI need to create an email message that includes a link to a
document in an Outlook Public Folder. Can anyone tell me
how to do this?
TIA
The link needs to be in this format:
<outlook://Public Folders/All Public Folders/YOUR PUBLIC FOLDER PATH/~ITEM
NAME>
You need to include the "~" before the item name. The "<>" on each end of
the link keep it intact in case it breaks across two lines.

Lost folder from MailboxI have a user who emptied his Deleted Items folder. As soon as he did that,
he noticed that a folder he had created under the Mailbox (let's call it
Fred) was also gone. Can this folder be recovered from the Exchange server?
It's possible (says he) that Fred had been mistakenly moved into the Deleted
Items folder before the user did the empty. If this is the case, is Fred
permanently lost?

public folder woesI have just setup an Exchange 2k server, I setup a load of public folders,
and everything was working wonderful, I could mail to them as well. the last
thing I did was to install The IISLockdown tool, after I did that people
complained that they couldn't get into their webmail, so I took the lockdown

Now the public folders went wrong. the permissions for some reason got all

changed to a publishing editor. I couldn't change the permissions there, so
I went into ESM and tried to get the permissions to change...

junk filter not catching spamI have used the Rules Wizard to create 2 filters to try to catch spam. One
searches the subject and the other searches the body. Since I rarely, if
ever, use the work "penis" in any email, I put this text in both filters. I
continue to get spam with "penis" in either or both the subject and body. I
have added variations, like "Penis", "PENIS", etc. The filters are still not
catching the "penis" spam.
Any clues why this is the case?
are the failed messages in HTML?

Too Many Personal FoldersI move my outlook.pst file back and forth, by "import" between my home and
laptop computers. I do not import duplicate entries.
Somewhere in this process I have "acquired" several new Personal Folders.
In the folder list there are four of them. The active data appears in the
second one, counting from the top and the third and fourth seem to be
duplicates.
How do I safely reduce all my data to just one Personal Folder, and how do I
prevent this growth in the future.
TIA, Dave Harding in PA.
