Invalid and duplicate personal folders in Outlook 2003
I have duplicate personal folders that cannot be deleted
and appear to be corrupted. I copied an Outlook 2002 .pst
file to my new Outlook 2003 and all was fine, but I could
not set reminders due to an error. I followed the advice
of a knowledgebase article, but then got the duplicate
Personal folder that was identical and could not be
deleted. After that I tried more things, but I cannot
delete these duplicate folders. There seems to be no
command, and closing the folder returns an error.

I have a couple personal folders created along with a folder that comes
from an exchange server. One personal folder is setup to receive all
incoming emails and also store outgoing emails. The other personal
folder is setup to organize, where I can move emails from one personal
folder to the next.
My question is, is it possible to move the location of how the personal
folders appear in outlook 2003? Right now I have my menu with Personal
Folder(1) on top, the Exchange default Folder in the middle, and
Personal Folder (2) on the bottom.
The default exchange folder is now being bypassed, so ...Two Personal Folders showing in left panel
For some unknown reason I have the default Personal Folder as well as a
second copy of the Personal Folder showing in my folders list panel. I can

Outlook 2003 thinks this is the default)
I am running Windows XP and Outlook 2003. I have tried the repair inbox
tool as well as the detect and repair outlook options.

This button is missing on my Outlook 2000 Personal Folder (Folder List,
right-click Personal Folder, select Properties). Would appreciate ideas for
getting it back.
It's not just on one user. I tried starting up Outlook in Admin for the
first time. It made a brand new Personal Folder but this has no Advanced
button either. Even uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2000 doesn't solve
it. And no clues from Google searches.

Has anyone been able to get the Personal Folders Backup

A couple of people in my office have installed it, but
the backup option is nowhere to be found. And yes, I know
it says Outlook 2003 Add-in, but if you read the System

I am trying to back up personal folders on a cd. I burned
the files to a CD. When I try to open them in Outlook it
tells me the following:
"properties for this information service must be defined
prior to use"
"File access is denied. You do not have the permission
required to access the file..."
I have checked the permissions and I have full control.
Copy the PST files to your hard drive, right-click on them, go to
properties, and remove the read-only attribute.

I have reinstalled Outlook 2003 and now have multiple personal folders. I
have gone the the unwanted folder and right clicked and tried to close it. I
get an error that says "operation failed. object could not be found". Someone
also suggested I to to control panel/mail/ data files and remove folder
there. I did that and it worked for one of the extra ones... There is only
one folder listed there. I don't want to delete that just incase it deletes

Hi, trying to help a friend who migrated to hosted mail with MAPI. She is

My problem is the same as the one in this forum
I've got XP Pro with Office 2000.
I was moving data around new hard drives (onto a new 250GB one) when in
the middle of copying, the hard drive died - it will not power on
(won't even get warm when plugged in). I was able to recover a fairly
recent one using a program called r-studio (http://www.r-studio.com/)
from another drive which used to hold that file. My .pst file is
slightly over 1GB in size.
When opening this .pst or importing a .pst file, it says:

I just installed Office XP on a new computer. I copied my old (Outlook
2000) outlook.pst file to logical drive E:. Somehow in my playing

Today-Personal Folders" showing in the Folder List. The content of each
is identical. I want to get rid of two instances of this and can't
figure out how to do it. There is no "Delete" option when I right-click
them and both the Close option and the Rename option are grayed out. I
did try both a Repair and a Reinstall from the Office XP CD. No luck.
