Word Pad 2007 Won't remember Font choice

WordPad 2007 on Windows 7 RC refuses to remember the font that I choose. I
can't see how to make a particular font default either. It constantly
reverts to default font which I don't like as it is hard to read. I can
change the font size and that stays changed.

I am using WordPad to copy excerpts from web articles and each time I copy
another excerpt and place it in the open document the font reverts from my
Verdana choice to the default one.

I recall having this same problem on Word 97 and my current Word 2002 on
other machines. I can't remember how I fixed the problem. How do I fix this
for WordPad?

No such thing as Wordpad "2007" Are you using Word 2007 or just Wordpad?

What I meant was WordPad on Windows 2007 which is an entirely different GUI
(that horrible Ribbon) from WordPad on XP Pro or Vista Ultimate. That is
why I called it WordPad 2007. I also have Word 2002 installed on XP Pro
(which I love). I will not buy Word 2007 because of the Ribbon so I thought
I'd just use WordPad on Windows 7.

There's no Windows 2007 either.

It's not a very good idea to make up your own product names when asking for
help with the product. It doesn't often result in answers and tends to upset
the inmates.

One way or another, depending on your Office license, you could install Office
XP (2002) on Windows 7.

If you press Ctrl+A then set the font you want in WordPad, any further text
you type will appear in that font. I don't know whether you can set a
specific font as the default for ALL new documents though.

Well, only if I buy a new computer from Dell as I have two OEM (Dell)
versions of Works Suite 2006 which includes Word 2002. I only have used one
of them on my current XP computer. I could put the other one on Win 7 but
only if it is a Dell and I am not sure if I will buy from Dell this next
purchase.

Yeah, it works like that in WordPad on Vista Ultimate but I was able there
to get it to change to Verdana as the default font and stay changed. I don't
remember what I did to get that and it might not matter if I figure it out
since Wordpad on Win 7 is different from earlier Wordpads.

I am quite unhappy that Microsoft discontinued Works Suite. I have NO
interest in the free Office that will be offered next year (ad supported). I
want all the goodies in a current Works Suite although I didn't want Word
2007 with the ribbon. But if there was a new Works Suite available for Win
7, I would buy it and make myself learn to accept the ribbon but with no
other goodies ...no Works Suite ....well, I have no interest in just buying
the latest Word and would NEVER consider an ad supported MS Office. I don't
need Office. I need Word and that is it. I love Digital Imaging that I got
with Works Suite 2006 and it stupid of Microsoft to discontinue Works
Suite...really stupid. I certainly hope the OEMs don't put that junk (with
ads!) on new machines. Just one more thing to immediately remove.

No need to buy anything.
Have a look at the free Open Office. The current version (3.1) is AS good as
Office 2003 for the "average" user (IMHO), and will open Office 2007
documents natively (although there are some compatibility issues). It
doesn't have an email client, but then neither does Works. It's freely
downloadable, and you can install it on as many computers as you like, with
no activation or anything like that.

As Gordon suggests, Open Office might be the best thing to try out.

Or you might want to see if you can still purchase a copy of the same
version of Works you already have.

Moving paragraphs from MS Word to Excel
Hello, In excel is there an alternative to using format|wrap text? I was wondering if it's possible to insert text from a word document into excel and have lines automatically cut off after a specified limit of characters/"whole words" - as it would appear in MS Word. For instance, if the first paragraph in my word document had 580 characters, I'd like to paste it into excel. Then I figure you can use a combination of trim, mid, and other text functions (that I'm unaware of) to return a specific range of characters. Let's say cell A1 had 580 character paragraph, a...
