Shrinking a Money File

I just upgraded to Money 2006 and I archived all my records prior to
01/01/2004. Is there a way to now shrink my money file in size? It's still
at 20 Megs, same as it was before the archive. I assume since a majority of
the data has been archive that I can compress all the open space in the
file?

I tried repairing the file (Standard and quick) and that didn't shrink the
file. Does anyone know of a way?

Thanks....

Archiving doesn't achieve much. See http://umpmfaq.info/faq.html#Q95 and =
http://umpmfaq.info/faq.html#Q29

One can massively build up the total size of a file by doing nothing =
more than adding ticker symbols to track. So one could have a 100MB =
file, and almost no transactional data.

I was talking to another MVP today and his file is 93mb with no =
problems.=20

I have been using Money since M95 and, apart from an experiment to see =
what happened, I have never archived. Money will arbitrarily (seemingly) =
decide to compress your .mny file but I have never worked out the =
algorithm and it certainly isn't user controlled.

Money 20006 for Australia?
Hi, Do you recommend to use this software for Australia? It's a really good software but I mean there is no online banking, financial inst. or tax information for AU in it. Any ideas if this is something in the planning? thanks From the information I have, there will not be a version of Money 2006 localized for Australia. What we call the "International English" version is probably what you'll get, and as you've noted, it has no Oz-specific features. -- "drop" <drop@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:43C3C0E9-696B-4592-8382-EC...

Outlook PST file too big
Product: Outlook 2000 I recently backed up my Outlook PST file to a DVD. (It was over the 2 GB limit) I then created a new PST file to use. However, now I cannot mount the old PST file to get some data off it. I have been told this is due to the file being over 2GB. Is there anything I can do to get into the file now? I would hate to loose this much data. is it because the pst is too big or because you are reading it from a DVD? Outlook needs read/write access as well as a pst under 2GB. http://www.slipstick.com/problems/repair2gbpst.htm -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, ...

Money 2007. Transaction Download and Bill Summary Tool Conflict
I think I'm looking for some best practice advice on the use of MS Money. Currently using Money 2007. I bank and billpay with NetBank. I use the Money Bill Summary tool to schedule reoccurring payments and transfers, but I make these payments using the Bill Pay feature of my bank's website. When I run the Money Update Online Information tool to download cleared transactions, it does not match the Netbank payments and transfers with the Bill Summary tool ledger entries. This results in duplicate entries. I could stop using the Bill Summary tool, but I would still have the prob...

Outlook 2003 Upgrade Kept Old PST File Version, How to Fix?
I just upgraded a client to 2003 because of some issues with the PST file size in his Outlook XP (it crashed as he exceeded the 2GB limitation by about 200MB!). Anyway, the upgrade kept the file as a 97-2002 PST file which still has the 2GB limitation. I created a new data file that is the new version and was able to recover the other PST file, but I can't get Outlook to make that the default Outlook folder. I could move the email delivery to it, but not have Outlook open this file. I tried renaming the default PST to see if Outlook would then prompt me for a data file, but it wouldn&#...

Excel 97 file size limit?

I am not a computer expert and I need some perspective on how large I could eventually make a file before it reaches it's limit and will not function anymore. I have a bunch of numeric data entered from cell A1 to DZ1320. Then I have a number of formulas in cells from A1325 to P1460. My formulas are basicly simple, average "this row"...
