Endnote/Cite write, as well as database issues #2

Hello all-

Is anyone using Endnote 7 on the mac and Office X?  I have found some
stability issues, as well as issues connecting to certain databases-
e.g. Blackwell does not have a direct filter, you have to go through
other steps.  I am all ears (actually eyes) to talk with someone about
this because I am writing my dissertation and think that the steep

Hi Seth,

There are a number of people dropping in and out of either this newsgroup or
more likely the microsoft.public.mac.office.word newsgroup, who use Endnote,
including some people who have been beta testers for forthcoming versions.
I'm not using it in OS X yet, but a few comments.

You're more likely to get discussion on the newsgroup itself (preferably the
MacWord one) than by email (don't expect any other messages copied to you
:), and the newsgroup tends more toward immediate problem-solving than
ongoing discussion.  If you want email, EndNote runs a fairly active email
peer support list--find directions to subscribe somewhere under the support
page on their site. That email list would also be a better place to ask
about things like direct filters, as it includes a number of librarians who
help write filters for their users.

You can avoid many stability issues by not installing Cite While You Write
as a Word add-in.  Simply copy and paste the EndNote fields into your Word
doc while writing, and let them stay there as raw fields until you have to
send your work to someone.  Then temporarily install CWYW, format a copy of
the doc, send off the copy, uninstall CWYW, continue to edit in your
original.  This is more work, yes, but safer--less likely to crash crashes
and I think more likely to prevent EndNote-related corruption of your
documents (which has been suspected though I've not personally seen it
proved nor had it happen to me).

Just finishing my dissertation--if you only use the basics of EndNote, the
learning curve is not that steep and is still worth it.  The learning curve
on using Word to write a dissertation, however, is a bit steep, but still
worth it when you are trying to produce 300 consistently formatted pages.
You will be happier using Word if you understand how it operates, which
requires understanding Styles and Templates.  If you are not familiar with

VB Macro #2
I have a macro that is generating Excel files. When the macro runs, it saves two different tabs in the workbooks as values. It needs to test and wait until the formulas that are pulling amounts from another database are correctly populated with the amounts. Right now, I am getting N/A# instead of amounts for some, but not all, of the files. Backing Up Exchange Database
Hi I am running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2000 server. Veritas Backup 10, is installed on the server. The Exchange Agent is also installed on this server. A full backup with the option to clear committed logs is used to perform the daily exchange backups. I noticed that in the MDBDATA folder the logs are continuously being added approximately 5MB in size. Is there a way to have these logs removed automatically as I thought that the backup would perform that function. GP SP#2 hangs with sa and Collections Issue
I just installed 8.0 SP#2 (ran the script that it says to run cuz we had upgraded from previous version to remove dups in smartlist tables) and when I log into GP as sa, it hangs and CPU sits at 100%. Backing up databases on remote SQL
Hi, I recently followed one of the MS articles on how to move GP 9 sql database to a different server. Everything went well except when trying to run the backup option from the GP9 server. I currently have a server with GP9 installed and another server with SQL and the GP databases. When I try to run the backup from the backup option on the GP server it says " You must be on the server machine to perform this task". presume this is because the SQL is no longer on that server. Word 2004 and kyocera printer issue
Hi, I am running a fully patched MAC OSX.4 machine with Office 2004 fully patched. I have installed the latest Kyocera OS X English 10.2 drivers from the kyocera website, for KM7530 model. The driver installs a job accounting feature in the printing presets for that particular printer. The function will work fine for every program other than word, word will not allow you the option to enter a pin code. all the features seem to be greyed out. Migrating Exchange servers
We are in the process of migrating to a new exchange server. The issue we are having is transfering the user's outlook (xp, 2k) address book/contact list to the new server without manually having to log into everyone's computer and pointing their address books to the new server. Hello, all, Have a strange problem. I recently used the tool ResOrg to renumber the resource IDs in a project where there were hundreds of duplicates. This fixed a list of bugs, which is why I did it. The other programmers found three problems after this.
