Can't get ANY Microsoft Updates

I've had an interesting problem the last couple of weeks. Neither
Microsoft Office AutoUpdate nor trying to download updates from the
Microsoft Mac site work. If I try AutoUpdate, it tells me that the
connection was interrupted (it DOES manage to show me what updates are
available). When I try downloading updates from the MS Mac website, I
get messages similar to this:

Safari can't open the page
"http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/0/1/001FE70F-EA8C-45B3-955E-AF8525575C27/Office2004-1130UpdateEN.dmg"
because it can't find the server "download.microsoft.com".

I got the same thing from Firefox. I even tried downloading using
Windows XP on my wife's laptop with no luck at all. If I try pinging
download.microsoft.com, it's like the server doesn't exist. I've tried
this with Mac OS X Firewall shut down to see if that would make a
difference, and it doesn't.

Hellllllp!

Steve

Hi Steve:

All I can say is that it works fine in both Safari and FireFox here.

If it shows you what updates are available, then the firewall is fine and
it's local network conditions that are hammering it.

However, the fact that it can't find download.microsoft.com indicates that
your Domain Name Server is not resolving correctly. It should resolve to
208.187.212.200. Check your internet connection is pointing at the correct
Domain Name Server.

Cheers

John & all-

I am having the same problems. When I try to follow the English dmg
links from both
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/misc/messenger60_download.xml
and
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/Office2004/Office2004_1130.xml&secid=4&ssid=31&flgnosysreq=True
I get this message:

Safari can't open the page
"http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/0/1/001FE70F-EA8C-45B3-955E-AF8525575C27/Office2004-1130UpdateEN.dmg"
because it can't find the server "download.microsoft.com".

I also tried using the IP address you gave in your reply post
(208.187.212.200 as
http://208.187.212.200/download/0/0/1/001FE70F-EA8C-45B3-955E-AF8525575C27/Office2004-1130UpdateEN.dmg)
and got this message:

Don't know what to tell you - I just clicked the link in my last post & the
English 11.3.0 update is downloading as I type... No problem whatsoever.

Yeah, you can't string the IP address into the URL like that, because it's
an Active Server page that requires parameters. Use the IP address only to
ensure that you can see the server at all. (The IP address is different
today: Microsoft hops around all over the place to avoid Denial of Service
attacks...)

This is the URL:
load/office2004/Office2004_1130.xml&secid=4&ssid=31&flgnosysreq=True>

Whenever I click that, it just works. I find it interesting that both
posters who are having trouble are coming in from G-Mail addresses. I know
the two companies are the deadliest of competitors, but they wouldnt...
Would they??? :-)

Intelligent Message filter update problem with Junk e-mail folder
I've recently installed Intelligent Message filter on my front end server. All appeared to be working OK, so I went ahead, updated the server with the IMF update and restarted the server. Inbound external messages are now assigned an SCL rating upon delivery on the front end server, but ALL messages seem to be being sent to the Outlook Junk e-mail Outlook folder when SCL rating is above that of 0 and 1. My delivery and junk e-mail settings are both set to 8 under Global Settings - Delivery, but messages are automatically being moved to Junk e-mail folder if they are greater tha...

Update query question 04-26-10
Hello, I would like to update a record by looking at the value from a form combo box column(1). I have tried Forms![Lab Works Manager]![cmbTo].column(1) but it does not work. The bond column(0) has the ID, but in this case I need to use the actual value from column(1) and not column(0). Any idea how? Thank you, Silvio Add a hidden control to your form and set its value to =Forms![Lab Works Manager]![cmbTo].column(1) Then you can reference that hidden control in the query. Your other option is to write a VBA function and pass in the name of the form, the name of the co...

How do i get a combo box to enter data in a table from a form?
I want to use a form for data entry. Within that form I have two combo boxes to look up recurring data. When I select an item and expect it to write to another table it does not. What must i do to accomplish this? You'll need to tell us more details about your form's setup and the tables' designs. Your question suggests, though, that you may be storing data redundantly in your database, which usually is unnecessary and may be a source of future data integrity problems. -- Ken Snell <MS ACCESS MVP> "Joe Owens" <Joe Owens@discussions.microsoft.c...

Cannot update Office #2
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel After downloading the latest update, I get the message: You cannot install Office 2008 12.1.3 Update on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume. I have read the advice provided by a responder to a similar query in July but it has not helped. I cannot launch the Updater as seen in that picture and see the update.dmg anywhere. Can anybody help? Thank you! Trying to get an ASCII string.
Hello, I have an application that extracts ASCII strings from a binary file (characters from 0 to 255). Depending on the windows code page of the user, the characters above 127 do not "mean" the same : that is normal. My problem now consists in saving that string in text format while keeping every character on a BYTE and not .Net CHAR Example : Let's say a russian guy uses my program, the tool extracts C0 F0 E3 E5 ED F2 00. (Assuming buffer contains the binary data, this is how I extract the string : ) StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); ...
