number of fields exceeds 256 when importing from a dbf file
Hey evryone, I'm having a small problem with importing some old data from a FileMaker Pro database. According to what I found out in the groups archive the best bet is to convert it to a dbf file and then import it. However, I the number of fields in the dbf file exceeds 256, so the import wizard truncates the import at field number 256. I would now want to spread the data over two sheets. However, in the process of converting it to a dbf, quite a few of the field names get truncated and therefore have the same name, so I can't use SQL to retrieve them. My question is: what i...

Synchronised Outbox with IMAP Entourage?
Is it possible for Entourage to somehow synchronise my local (home) computer with the work (presumably server) computer? The problem is that when I reply to email from home (using IMAP Entourage a/c to receive, google a/c to send) there's no record of the reply when I log on and use Outlook at work. Our tech people tell me it's not possible to sync mail. It's odd because calendars seem to sync nicely. Importing CSV files #3
Normally when you click on a csv file excel opens it witout problem. However I have one user who when they click on the csv file finds that it open in an unformatted state. In order to open the file properly she has to go through the import process and place a tick in the comma section. When this is done all the data is formatted correctly. I am able to open this file without problem on my machine. In order to try and fix this I uninstalled and reinstalled office. I also tried doing it under another profile on the same machine to see if it was a profile problem. It also failed. ...

Hi I am trying to import ACT 2000 contacts (including notes) into Outlook 2003 and the notes are not coming in. Then I have tried to import this database into a new Outlook profile and though the Contacts appears, the notes do not Any ideas Thanks in advanc Nitesh Two suggestions: Try using Access as an intermediary between ACT and Outlook. data source linkage
Hoping someone is an expert with data links. I store my data in access and link it to excel so I can do pivot tables/charts. I've run into two major problems. a) if I change the location of my access file (move it to another directory) I loose my link to the pivot table and can't figure out how to update it. Also I create multiple pivot tables from the same data source (I select everything in my query and just drop in what I need). But if I just copy and past the pivot table whenever I change my groupings it carries thru to all the copies. What's the best way to cre...

OK to delete old ,net framework?
Addremove programs shows .net framework 1.1, 2.0 sp2, 3.0 sp2, and 3.5 sp1. Can I delete the old ones? Thanks. New versions of .NET Framework do not supersede older versions. Importing fixed-width data
Dear all, I have a large number of huge text-files I want to import in Excel. Th data are in fixed-width format (each value is 5 characters long), bu there's no space or separator between them. That seems to be a proble for excel. The only way possible seems to be to 'draw' the column manually in the import wizard. I'd rather do it in an automatic way because of the large amount of data. Is there a simple solution to this problem? (I've got little excel an programming background.) Thanks a lot for any responses!! -- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com Juliet...

Apparent Excel 2007 Copy & Paste Bug?
I've run into an Excel 2007 Copy & Paste problem that I thought I would share with the group. If you open an Excel 2003 (or earlier) workbook in Excel 2007 and that workbook has data and formatting on one of its worksheets including having some of its column widths set, and you then select all of the cells on the worksheet and do a Copy and then switch to a brand new workbook and do a Paste, the data and most of the formatting comes across OK. XML Source Menu Item disabled?? File version??
My XML Source Menu Item is disabled (aka greyed-out). Why? I have a workbook with multi-worksheets and I want to enable a conversion to XML, I'm trying to follow the documentation here, but it's poorly organized and more poorly written (IMHO)..
