IE8 connection issues needs a more permanent solution

I was going to ask a question about connection problems with IE8 but it seems
a lot of other people have beaten me to it. Unlike most people, I am on
dialup so I thought it was having issues because of that although I did not
have the same problems with IE7. Now I see that connection type has nothing
to do with it. Like everyone else, I am experiencing intermitent problems.
Often reloading the page solves the problem. The diagnostics produces no
helpful results. And so on.
I have read the helpful advice being offered but I have a problem with that.
Seems it is up to us to make all sorts of changes to our computers in order
to get IE8 to work. I am always leery about making some of those changes. I
must confess that I am not that knowledgeable about the inner workings of
this beast and am always concerned that I make the changes incorrectly and
really screw up my system. It doesn't help when there are dire warnings
attached to some of the instructions for making those changes! :)
I trust that Microsoft is working on a much simpler solution to the problem
since it does seem to be very prevalent. Can they not simply write a fix and
include it with their windows updates and save everyone a lot of hassles in
trying to fix the problem themselves?
Sorry if I sound like I'm grousing but it is just all too typical that a new
program comes out from MS and it's got issues. Surely they should be able to
test run new programs better than this by now.

Hi Forest,

Check your compatibility settings and that you are including updated web
site information from Microsoft.

Most problems are being caused by incompatible Addons?

Have you checked for updates to any of your Addons? Including Flash and
Quicktime?

The error message suggests either Quicktime or an old version of the Google
toolbar is the cause.

Regards.

Spreadsheet issue
I have a spreadsheet, 10,503 KB that has 3699 rows and 3600 of them have hyperlinks in them. It takes a lot of time to save this document. I do have it saved as an .xlsm due to two macros used in the spreadsheet. Will things improve if I save it as a .xlsx and will I lose the anything related to the macro or just the ability to run the macro? There shouldn't be a big difference in file size with .xlsm vs. .xlsx. Unless, your macros are huge with lots of userforms. If you save as a .xlsx you will lose access to your macros. When I did the tests, I found the first procedure is blocking all other insert/update procedures. The locks of the first procedure has is the PAGE exclusive lock. Is it possible to use CRecordSet without connecting to a database?

Exchange 2003, Google DNS, and IMF Connection Filtering RBL Failures

I found that when I used Google's DNS Servers that my Exchange 2003 IMF Connection Filtering RBL's (specifically zen.spamhaus.org) were not always working properly and were allowing spam to pass through. Apparently there is something in Google's DNS service that prevents a propery query to zen.spamhaus.org. Switching to another DNS (Open DNS) corrected the problem for me. SMTP Issue #2
Hello. I am running Exchange 2003 (SBS). Does anyone know why outgoing mail would be read as junk mail by external email clients? When I send email to an msn address (and others) the message gets filtered as junk. Thanks. Hello Dan, I am not sure what filtering hotmail or anyone else is doing to detect your mail messages as junk, it could possibly be due to your server being on a blacklist... Or the content of the message itself. Unfortunatly these rules are on MSN's side. You could try sending an email to their support staff to try to get assistance with this. Thank you -Casey ...
