Sp3 and Terminal Server

Hello:

A client installed the latest service (SP3 GP) pack and then their terminal
server crashed twice unexpectedly.
Are there any instances where SP3 was documented to be unstable? I know
thqat there are special instructions in the PDF for TS but did not know that
it could cause TS to become unstable.

Thanks!

We have recently installed SP 3 for GP on at least 3 terminal servers at
various clients. None have crashed unexpectedly afterwards (or crashed at
all as far as I know). What do the TS event logs say?

I have seen this happen when the mod forms & reports are stored else where.
Are they installing the SP in install mode?

When to migrate to SQL server
How many records are too many for Access DB and would make it advisible to move to SQL? On Thu, 11 Mar 2010 14:08:01 -0800, Pastor Del <PastorDel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >How many records are too many for Access DB and would make it advisible to >move to SQL? There's no hard and fast rule. Access has no specific record number limit; the entire size of a database cannot exceed 2GByte, so if you're pushing that, it's time to move. It's more often going to be issues of security, network architecture, hot backups, etc. that drive the decision. ...

Frontend-to-Backend server communications; change port??
We have a client who is expressing some concern regarding the security of the communications that is happening between the Exchange 2003 OWA front-end and backend servers. All documentation I am finding seems to indicate that this communication all happens over HTTP and port 80. Is there any way that this could be changed to use port HTTPS and port 443? Thanks! Tim Why is your client worried about SSL the traffic on the internal network? if you want to encrypt the traffic on the internal network from the front end to the backend then you need to use ipsec. IE8 group policies in Server 2003 AD domain?
OK, first of all can this be done? I see conflicting info about .adm vs ..admx templates. Are full .adm templates available for IE8? The advice I have seen to find the .adm template in C:\Windows\IE8 has resulted in an adm file dated 1-1-2007 and it sure doesn't seem to contain policies pertaining to 8 or even 7. My situation is an AD domain with XPSP3 clients and W2K3 servers and I don't see us updating in the near future but I have been told to go to IE8. If need be I can put a Vista or Win7 machine on the domain to manage the IE8 policies if they can then be appli...

setting up an IIS server to relay email to Exchange in DMZ, through two ISA firewalls.
Hello Sorry about the big mail list, but my question involves 3 different expertise, so I am not sure where to post. In a nutshell what I am trying to do is the following. a) Get IIS, in an anonymous access DMZ, to pick email from my ISP through an ISA server 2004 firewall I haven't figured out yet how to get the mail server to pick up email, I could publish the SMTP server on the external firewall, but all email is currently being sent to my ISP and I quite like this because they can take care of a lot of spam filtering, virus etc. problems for me. b) I then want IIS to forward the...

SendAs for "Exchange Domain Servers" and "Exchange Enterprise Servers" denied
Hi all, I'm having problems with SMTP with all my exchange servers (4) under the same organization. The Event IDs are 7010 and 7004. I look them up and they are caused by the impossibility to authenticate between servers. I've made focus on the article 843106 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;843106&sd=ee there, this paragraph call my attention: If Integrated Windows Authentication is enabled, but the events persist, the sending server in the 7004 event or in the 7010 event may lack or be denied the SendAs right on the receiving server. If the sen...

Exchange CALs less that Server 2003 licenses
I had a prospective customer with Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with licensing for 25 users. He wants me to install Exchange Server 2003 Standard, but he only wants 15 CALs. He does not think he needs more than 15 mailboxes. Will there be any negative consequences with this combination? Can Exchange CALs be added as required? TIA Yes, this shouldn't be a problem, though I fail to understand the reasoning if the user/customer has already purchased 25 CALs. -- Bharat Suneja MVP - Exchange www.zenprise.com NEW blog location: exchangepedia.com/blog ------------------------...

Is that OK to setup CA on Exchange Server ?
I want to enable SSL communication for OWA user. If I setup CA server on the my Exchange server, should I concern anything ? Is that OK ? Thanks. It is probably not a best practice to do so, especially if that server is accesible from the public net. The reccomendation would be to get a certificate from a root CA like verisign or implement a CA on your internal network. I am a big fan of seperating mission critical roles. I've rolled out EX2K3 on a W2K3 Server with a CA role with no problems. There is really no need to pay for a 3rd party certificate if you have your own CA in-house ...
