Negative WIP Totals in GP 7.5

I've got an odd problem in GP 7.5. The WIP totals I get from the MOP1000
table are, in some cases, greater than the amount issued. In most of these
cases, the qty issued is zero (there are some cases where qtyissued is
greater than 0).

In a lot of these cases, the MOP1210 table has the items listed as issued to
the MO. I've been able to confirm this on a number of the entries in
MOP1000. It looks to me like GP is not updating the table properly.

Has anyone see this before? Does anyone have a process for reconciling this
data?

MOP1000 is the WIP stack. MOP1210 is the PickDoc Line table.

1) We backflush only some MOs. We backflush for MOs for Items that begin
with SB…, or in other words, MOs at outsourced work centers. We do not
backflush for in-house MOs. The problem appears on both backflushed and
non-backflushed items.

2) No, we do not have any floor-stock items.

How are you calculating the WIP in MOP1000 - which fields are you considering.
What fields are you comparing from MOP1210?

I'm looking at the qtyrecvd and qtysold fields in MOP1000, and comparing them
to the trxqty field in MOP1210.

I think I know what has happened, but I don't know why it happened. There
are a number of pickdocs in MOP1200 and MOP1210 that have been posted, but
for some reason some items in the pick docs are not being put into MOP1000.
Because the item isn't in MOP1000, there is no qtyrecvd there when finished
product starts coming in and updating the qtysold field. That's what causes
the negative WIP quantity. What I need to figure out is why the item isn't
being added to MOP1000 when the pick doc is posted.

Hi:

I am having the same problem with WIP Reconciliation. I have version 8, but
WIP reconcile is always a problem. It always gives me error message for some
MOs, i.e. Quantities in MOP1000 are inaccurate. It means some lines are not
been created while posting the transaction from Piclist. How to find out
which lines are not there.

Thanks

That pretty much sums up my problem as well. As I stated earlier, you can do
a comparison of the data in MOP1000 with the data in MOP1210 to see where the
errors are occuring. It does indeed look to be a problem during the
insertion of data into MOP1000. The question is, what is causing this
problem? Sure, it can be fixed by a WIP Reconcile, but that isn't a
solution, that's a coverup of the problem.

Can anyone from MS tell me if a fix for this bug is being worked on or not?
If not, why not?
