Applying Advanced Filter
Thanks so much to those who have responded to my earlier questions. It's
solved most of the issues I couldn't figure out, so I'm nearly finished I

I have a management information system which exports data
to excel when reports are run. I want to be able to take
the resulting excel spreadsheet and protect the majority
of its contents to avoid accidental erasure. I then wish
to insert several columns into the sheet which people can
update as the month progesses. These columns are therefore
to remain unprotected. I can do this using the 'locked'
feature of format cells but when my sheet is protected I
am unable to filter the data. I understand why this is

Appreciate it if anyone can help me to resolve this problem. I am working

Region 1. Project will complete the filtering with no problems. However, if I

feature, except I really need to filter and group the resulting pivot table

I have created a custom list in MOSS2007. The list has several dates, each
indicating a stage in the process. I wish to make views that allow me to
see those items that have Date 1 filled in but do not have Date 2 filled in.
I have tried to use [Empty], [Blank], 0, and less than 01/01/2009. None of
these work. Is there a special word for filtering dates?

go back to select all criteria certain rows are hidden, it does show all
rows. Anyone know why?
Did you mean "it does NOT show all rows"?

I'm plotting a chart based on visible cells in an auto-filtere
spreadsheet. Everything works fine as far as the data and legend range
go (cols 2 and 3 below). My problem is I want to add a text box to th
chart and link that box to the name of the data being plotted, but

I have my application locked down and I display the allowable buttons
on the QAT. On forms, I display the Filter-By-Form button and the
Toggle Filter button. BUT, when the user selects the Filter-By-Form
button the form displays ok but the entire QAT disappears. The user
can enter their desired filtering criteria, but they have no way to

I have some comments in my Excel 2000 spreadsheet. When I filter the
spreadsheet, the comments do not change position with the cells and end
up far from them? Is there any way I can work around this, eg. by
specifying an event in VB?
You need to be clearer.
I'm assuming that you are referring to the 'Comment' object that can be
added to a cell.
Cells do not change position when you filter. They are hidden and
unhidden but cell 'H7' (for example) will stay 'H7' whether it is a part of
your filter or not. The com...how to filter html part of a mutiltipart/alternative message ?
I created rules to filter message based on their content.
for text/plain or text/htlm message, no problem.
but for multipart/alternative message, Outlook2K seems to read only the
text/plain part, not the text/html part :(
and some mailer/spamer send emails with an empty text:plain part and
somthing in the text/html part.
how con I tell Outlook to read also the text/html in case of a
multipart/alternative message ?

They probably use feedback from user Hotmail users hitting the Spam button.
Don't expect them to bother with feedback on how to improve their Bayesian
filter. Find better anti-spam solutions. Spampal is free

issues cited are relevant. Downloaded SP1 update and
installed manually (message indicated successfully). Site
indicated I should update the Junk Mail Filter for Outlook
as well. Downloaded the update file for manual
installation but when executed I receive the following

i am using advanced filtering to filter a list. i am
filtering it in place. it is a 15 column table with
headings, so rows 1 and 2 are exactly the same as rows 3
and 4 respectively. one of the columns is a date
column. can someone tell me what i would enter in the
criteria range to filter the list for all entries made in

There are two ways the second is more accurate.
1) Uber the Date Criterion Field Type
=MONTH(Start of List)=1
So if the list starts at A7 then +Month(A7)=1
2) Create two criterion Fields for the Date column
in the first type ...
