removing an exchange 2003 server

Hi!

This is the problem: I have an exchange server (is a domain controller at
the same time). I can't log on because the netlogon service refuses to start.
I want to reinstall the server (I haven't neen able to log on under any
circumstances except with the ERD Commander boot CD but it wasn't any great
help also). I would like to remove the server from my exchange organization
before I reinstall sthe software. I know that this can be done from the
system manager console but when I right-click the server I want to remove, I
get a (not responding) situation. So I can't uninstal exchange from the
server because I can't log on and I can't remove the server from the
organization by using system manager. Is there an other way to do this or I
will have to remove AD metadata manually?

Regards,
Gorjan

I would leave the Exchange alone and fix the server. You would be
better to fix the DC rather than remove the Exchange server from the
organisation if it's got data on it.

Hi, thanx for the response,
The exchange server has no data on it, it doesn't contain any mailboxes, the
only damage I'm considering is leaving behindstale data in my exchange
odganisation (as well as AD) in case I simply format the server. Is there nay
way to avoid it? Simply format the server and later clean up the data about
the server's existence from AD? I know that it's being done by using the
ntdsutil tool but I dont know If the tool applies to Exchange Organization
data, even though I think it probbably should

Mailbox on Exchange Front-End Server
Can you create a mailbox on an Exchange 2003 Front-End Server? When you make Exchange a FE server, it then assumes all internet protocols are to be proxied to the BE servers. It can't proxy to itself. If you put mailboxes on it, only MAPI connections could reach them. Depending on your deployment, there may be security implications of allowing that. Can you? I think so. Should you? Probably not. William "John Blake" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:19f8501c44d87$e00c6950$a001280a@phx.gbl... > Can you create a mailbox on an Exchange 20...

New Server
I currently have Exchange 2000 on an older server (Windows 2000). I also have Exchange 2003 on a 1 year old server (windows 2003). I've recently purchased a new server to replace the old server (windows 2000) with (windows 2003). I have moved everything off the older server except exchange. I can actually power the machine down and have no problems running the two newer servers. However, I would like to install Exchange 2003 on the newest server so that we have a backup exchange server. Can I just bring down the oldest server, bring it off the network, and remove it with no problem...

Problem in Setting up CRM server
Hi We are trying to install CRM server. but we getting following error message and we don't know the reason for this. Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.GrantDatabaseAccessAction failed. ---> Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Common.SetupException: Setup could not complete this action. Excel 2003 Print Issue
I have created a spreadsheet to help with a university engineering assignment and I have added a worksheet that is basically an automatically generated report of all the calculations. I have set the Print Area up in such a way so that the results are printed out in well defined pages (e.g. page 1: title page, page 2: summary of input variables, page 3: summary of calculation results etc). The report is arranged vertically in the worksheet, so the pages are 'stacked' on top of each other. Outlook 2003
We're on Exchange 2003 and have started rolling out Outlook 2003 in place of Outlook 2000. In Outlook 2003 by default all folders come up grouped by day and with solid lines between the messages. Everyone hates these "features" and has made a point of telling me so. Yes, each individual folder can be changed back through the user interface but that's a non-solution for 100 users that have an average of 25 folders each plus the 50 or so public folders as well.
