I need to manually remove my old exchange 5.5 from the AD and my e2k,
but I am not sure how much to delete! Is it just the server or is it

Well, it's a big task.

I guess you have the Exchange 2003 server in place in
your org.

You need to remove the registry keys as well as edit the
ADSI to remove the Exchange 2000.

You better read the docs. Search the MS site for Manually
removing Exchange articles.

Cheers !

Thank you for you answer! :-)

I have read the docs and unfortunately they all describe manual removal
of Exchange 2000 and 2003. Not Exchange 5.5! I want to get Exchange 2000
in to native mode before I upgrade to Exchange 2003.

The ms docs describe the deletion of the exchange 2000 server from ADSI
Edit. Do you know if it is the same prosier for the deletion for
exchange 5.5??

There is no need to remove 55 from AD because 55 does not integrate into
AD.

Tanks for your reply!:-)

Doesn't Exchange 2000 pull exchange 5.5 into the AD, for it to bi able
to change information? And doesn't it have to be in the AD for Exchange
5.5 to be shown in the system mangier for exchange 2000??

It is from the system manager that it needs to be removed, but after
what I have gathered, the info I system manager is in AD. Am I that
wrong??

To say it as it is! A year ago the Exchange 2000 (e2k) server was
installed and every thing was replicated over to it, form the Exchange
5.5. The exchange 5.5 was never uninstalled and removed from the e2k
system manager. At that time we were, to network administrators, and the
other administrator was responsible. He has now quit and the exchange
5.5 is sill not uninstalled. I've searched the ms kb and gone thru most
of the kb memo about removing the last exchange 5.5. But it could not be
completed because of a communication error!

I have been looking in several news groups for answers. The only answers
I have sin has been to remove it via ADSI edit. But I have never seen
what it is that is supposed to be removed. Have you any idea what it may
be??

Is it the same as if I was to remove the e2k server manually as
described in the ms kb? Delete the server and answer all the fallowing
questions?

Hope you have some answers for me!! :-)

exchange 2003 X400 connector to exchange 5.5?
We currently have 2 different organizations/different domains and .coms - one is 2003 and one is still 5.5. For DR purposes, I need to know if I can set up a 2003 SMTP server and create x400 connectors to my 5.5 org and sites and vice versa just for mail routing in case my bridgeheads go down. My feeling is, I'll have to set up 2 servers: exchange 2003 (to talk to our folks that have already migrated) and exchange 5.5 for the rest of the folks. Has anyone had to do this - am I off base or is there some white paper that may discuss this. Let me know if I did not give enough i...

Attachments being removed from only one sender domain
This one has me stumped. Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003. I have one remote user who cannot receive attachments if sent from one particular company. Anyone who sends from that domain gets the same results. They can send to anyone else in our company and the attachments come through fine. I was testing by having the sender CC me and I got the attachments, but the main recipient didn't. It's not a file size issue, looked at that. The recipient has no rules set. They get the same file types (Excel in this case) from others, just not that particular sending domain. Suggestions anyon...

Does anyone have any experience of creating documentation accessible through the Excel Help menu item? I have successfully created a series of Excel 2002 templates and wish to create a user guide for them. My work environment prohibits downloads or specialised software, so RoboHelp, etc is not an option. My initial thoughts are to write a macro that opens a Word document full of hyperlinks. Has anyone been more creative? Thanks in anticipation. I frequently create "Menu Sheets" for my Excel applications. Using Drawing Objects and/or icons and assigning macros to...

Publisher 97 #5
I have Windows XP and installed my old version of Publisher 97 but it won't read all the pictures on the disk to add to a publication. Does XP have a problem reading older versions even after they have been installed. I have the same problem with other Office products. There are no issues whatsoever in installing Publisher 97 on XP, or for that matter older versions of Office. I would suggest it is an issue with your CD Rom. Exchange Server 2000 Problem
Ok, I have setup exchange server 2000 on a Win2K server for a customer. At first everything appeared to go ok, when I send internal e-mail it works just fine, when I was sending external e-mail it also works just fine (or so I thought). The setup is that I have a "static" IP address configurd on a linksys router which routs traffic inside to my exchange server on port 25, my exchange server can make outbound connections on port 25 also just fine. When I send e-mail from the exchange server to my home mail server (which runs sendmail of course, hehehe) I get the e-mails just fine. ...

Exmerge Question #5
Two scenarios: 1. Seems like this should work no problem. If a user mailbox was deleted using Exchange Tasks (but not the user) and I was able to restore the mail store to a RSG, shouldn't I use Exmerge to pull the data out of the RSG and put it all back into the original account (of course assuming that I've created an empty mailbox for the user)? It seems for whatever reason Exmerge isn't able to see the database after the mailbox has been removed and a new one created on the account. 2.
