OWA Authentication #2

I installed a new server on site running SBS2003 approx 3 weeks ago. It had
been running without any problems so far.

Sometime during the night an error occured regarding a file called
"owaauth.dll".
This file stopped the W3SVC service from loading correctly. I restored the
file from a previous backup and it resolved the problem I had with the
"Default Web Site".

I gained all this information from the Event Viewer. I restarted the server
and checked the event viewer again and it did not flag any problems in the
Application log.

However, when I try to use OWA internally or externally it with not resolve
my Username and Password. I checked Microsoft's Knowledge Base and found 1
hit. It told me to check the Anon logon, Integrated and Basic Logon. I
selected the correct logons according to the document but it did not resolve
the issue.

I not quite sure what to do next maybe someone can help.

Thanks,
Gary G

Hi Matthew,

I have had some progress since. For some reason if I add all the users to
the "Administrators" Security Group I can gain access via OWA. However, I do
not want to my users to have this level of access.

If I add a new user my defualt groups are:

Domain Users
Internet Users
Remote Web Workspace Users
My company Distribution Group

A new user will not have access via OWA unless I add them to the
Administrators Group also.

From what I can gather it seems this a security/permissions issue.

Thanks,

Gary G

Can you put in a couple of logs here?
Recreate the error a few times,
Go to Start-->Run and type in logfiles and OK it
Go to the W3SVC1 folder and open the log from today.
Take the last 15 or 20 lines them in here.

Thanks

Hi Matthew,

I disabled Forms based Authentication and was able to do step 1.

It has not resolved my problem,

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Matthew,

you can disregard my last message, it is now working correctly.

I followed step 1, and disabled Forms based authentication.

Do you know what would have caused the owaauth.dll file to become corrupt?
This information is for a report that I must provide.

Thank you for all your help, it is very much appreciated.

Combining Cells #2
I need the easiest way to do this: I have a column with values. Sometimes there are 2 rows, sometimes 20. For another program, I need all the values in that column in one long string separated by commas. So if my orginal data is: 8766 7788 9987 What I need excel to spit out is: 8766,7788,9987 How do I do this given that my number of rows can vary. I don't mind at all copying and pasting a function in that handles this, but just not sure how to go about it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! sequence numbers #2
how i can put sequence number after applying filter. if anyone can help me on this matter, i'll be very thankful. If your list begins in cell A1.... Insert a column and put SEQ in the "new" cell A1. Then put this formula in Cell A2 and copy down: =SUBTOTAL(3,B$2:B2) Now filter your list. That formula will count the number of non-blank, visible cells. Note the dollar sign in the formula. Cell A3 will count the non-blank, visible cells from A2:A3. Cell A5 will count them from A2:A5, etc. Does that help? -- Regards, Ron "Ashley" wrote: > how i can put se...

Allowing Default Domain for OWA
I have an Exchange 2000 environment in which I am hosting multiple company email accounts under one forest and one domain. I would like to now offer them OWA access over SSL. My Question: Are there any known security risks by entering the "Default Domain" under the various protocols in ESM so my clients would no longer have to enter the domain each time they would like to log on through OWA? If I do, should I and can I utilize this under all protocols? My gratitude ahead of time... There's a KB article on that. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903942/en-us -- Ed Crowley ...
