old Exchange Server remains site folder server

Hello,

I am trying to replace an old exchange 2000 server with a new 2003
server. I have moved all the mailboxes, public folders and system
folders as per the KB article regarding 'removing the first exchange
2000 server in a site.' However, the old Exchange 2000 server is still
showing up as the site folder server in AD. I have not uninstalled
Exchange from the old server yet - will the site folder server role be
automatically reassigned at that time or will I have to manually edit
the AD with ADSI Edit and put the DN of my new Exchange server in there
to change this role?

Also, am I going to lose my Schedule+, etc. data even though I have
rehomed that folder to the new 2003 server?

If you've replicated the folders and then uninstall Exchange, you will not
use free/busy and site folders will be pointed to the other server. It
becomes a problem if you've not replicated folders and simply format the
drives or take the first server offline without uninstall Exchange first.

Even if you do that, site folders can be reset/regenerated.

mass mailing from Outlook and Exchange
hi, I am looking for a way to send out a mass mailer from Outlook. I have all of my contacts (they are agents for my company) in Exchange groups. Currently I use BCC to populate all of the email accounts and then I send out one email. But, what I would like to be able to do is create an email, populate it with the email addresses and then have each email sent out to each account with the individual account address in the "to:" field. Is there a way to do this or a third party piece of software that can do this? Cheers, Matthew It's called a mail merge. Word can do it. So ca...

Exchange Intelligent Message Filter
The Exchange Intelligent Message Filter Deployment Guide talks a great deal about the installation of IMF on an Exchange Gateway Server, implying that this Gateway Server needs to be a separate box. It's not at all clear from the documentation whether, in a smaller organisation with a single Exchange Server, it's permissible to install IMF on the SAME server as the Exchange Server software. Could anyone please clarify this? Very many thanks. Harry Goodman I also have a small setup, one server with Exchange 03. We have IMF installed and working like a champ. Still have one lig...

Exchange Migration #11

upgrading to Exchange 2003
We have E2K running in Naitive mode in our Naitive 2K AD Domain. All this was brought onboard prior to SP2 so the mangled attributes are a concern. If I run Exchange 2003's Forestprep instead of Windows Server 2003's will the Exchange version fix the mangled attribute issue? Jon I am not sure which attributes we are talking abou here. But if you can run 2003 version of forestprep and domianprep without any errors, then you will be fine. After that, you just need to run the setup. Exchange 2003 works fine on a Win2000 environment. Delete from server
Outlook Express has a rule action that allows deleting a message from the server without downloading the body. I just installed Outlook 2003 and can't find a similar function. Am I missing something? My purpose is that I use K9 as a spam filter, including its DNSBL option. Anything coming from the xbl-sbl.spamhaus DNSBL is tagged with a header classification. An outlook rule identifies it accordingly. In Outlook Express the rule deletes if from the 'server' (actually, K9 already downloaded it to its own database from the mail server) without saving it in OE. Can I do the sa...
