old Exchange Server remains site folder server

Hello,

I am trying to replace an old exchange 2000 server with a new 2003
server. I have moved all the mailboxes, public folders and system
folders as per the KB article regarding 'removing the first exchange
2000 server in a site.' However, the old Exchange 2000 server is still
showing up as the site folder server in AD. I have not uninstalled
Exchange from the old server yet - will the site folder server role be
automatically reassigned at that time or will I have to manually edit
the AD with ADSI Edit and put the DN of my new Exchange server in there
to change this role?

Also, am I going to lose my Schedule+, etc. data even though I have
rehomed that folder to the new 2003 server?

If you've replicated the folders and then uninstall Exchange, you will not
use free/busy and site folders will be pointed to the other server. It
becomes a problem if you've not replicated folders and simply format the
drives or take the first server offline without uninstall Exchange first.

Even if you do that, site folders can be reset/regenerated.

Entourage loosing connection with server
Greetings All, Situation: At our work we use Entourage to connect to the Exchange server. It's been working great until about a week ago. We're running Office 2008, 12.2.3. Mac's are running 10.6.2. We loose connection with the server (can't receive or send mail). Quitting and restarting Entourage doesn't solve it. What DOES solve it is completely rebooting our Macs. Obviously a pain in the rumpus maximus! Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts as to solving this? Many thanks in advance for your collective wisdom! Dan a <William.Reed@sbcusd.k12.ca...

There is not enough space on the Exchange Server to store all of your rules.
Here is the problem we are having. We have been doing a server upgrade for a domain. The new and old servers are running Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5. The Exchange Server was installed on the old PDC, but according to government standards, it must be located on the new BDC. We used the ExMerge utility to backup all user mailboxes (approximately 130) to a workstation. We then restored the mailboxes to the new BDC where they belonged. All users are able to access their old mail, and all of their old folders. Unfortunately, when some users try to activate the ru...

Why does Exchange create its own profiles?
I had to recreate a user's Outlook profile, and when I went into the Control Panel, Mail, there were 35 BACKUP profiles, just called BACKUP ## or Outlook. I removed them, did the work I had to do, and checked again, and another one had been created. This one user gets this every time they open Outlook. Has anyone else come across this, or have any suggestions on what to check? We use Exchange 2003. ...

Creating forwarding rule in Exchange
Exchange 2003 SP2 If I have user fee@domain.com receiving email at address fee@domain.com, is it possible to create a rule in Exchange that does this: All emails from user@outsidedomain.com that go to fee@domain.com should be forwarded to foo@domain.com If it is possible, and I do not have a domain user named foo, would I have to create one or simply create a contact in order for the mailbox to be created? 1. I then attempted to Re-import the users data by deleting the users mail box, removing the Exchange Attributes and running the Cleanup Agent to ensure that the mail box was fully deleted I then run the Migration Util again to recreate the users mail box and import the dat...

Manual uninstall of Exchange 2003

The only mailboxes remaining were system mailboxes. Can I use adsiedit to remove the server from ESM and would that cause issues later. courtesy of Evan, run this query using ldp.exe to see...

Moving Servers Across Administrative Groups...
Here's the quick scenario... Exchange 5.5 original site. Exchange 2000 (non-cluster) brought up as first Exchange 2000 server in 5.5 site. (not doing anything) Exchange 2000 cluster brought up. Exchange site name is XXXNTDOMAIN which, in ESM shows up as the name of the First Administrative Group. This doesn't match the logical environment going forward so I was curious if it was possible to do: 1. Rename the XXXNTDOMAIN administrative group to something else? 2. Create a second administrative group and bring up a 2003 cluster at some point in the near future and migrate ...
