Need help bring over GP 7.0 data to new a GP 8.0 server.
I'm setting up a GP 8.0 Test Server with SQL 2000 SP3a installed. How do I bring my Great Plains 7.0 Data into the GP 8.0 envirnoment? Thanks in advance, The easiest way is the following: On the 7.0 server, detach DYNAMICS. Copy the DYNAMICS mdf and ldf file from the 7.0 to the 8.0 server. On the 8.0 server, attach and browse to the mdf that you copied. On the 7.0 server, attach DYNAMICS. Repeat for all databases. If you also need the sql logins from the 7.0 server, there is a TK on how to do this (uses a table called RecoveryMaster within Dynamics db). If you can go without the s...

Exchange 2007 AntiSpam / Content Filtering 03-09-10
We have a user who is getting a LOT of SPAM. Many of these contain the word "Viagra". I went into Exchange Management Console - Organization Configuration - Hub Transport - Anti-Spam - Content Filtering - Custom Words, and added Viagra (and other forms of the word) to the "blocked" section. This did not stop the "viagra" messages. Is there something that I am missing here? I even tried rebooting the server but still get the SPAM. Thanks. ...

Hello friends, I had to restore some lost public folders so I have setup an offline exchange 5.5 server that is similar to the production exchange server server and restored the directory and information store from backup tapes, but now I cannot launch the exchange admin, I get an error message saying that I don't have access rights, when I tried to start information store I get 4021 error code. Please help. Thanks. Don't restore the Directory unless you have a trust to the production domain. If you don't setup the trust you will want to remove / install Exchange again and the...

Groups in Active Directory
I have group of people in a OU named processing. My Processing Manager is asking to use that address publically, or processing@mydomain.com, and access to the mailbox be granted to all of our processors. Secondly, this processing OU is also used for a security group that has permissions all over the network. Is there a way to get around this or do I have to recreate the OU with a slightly different name and then create and user called processing? Any help appreciated. Hi Chuy There is no problems having a User or Group with the same name as an OU. You say this OU is being used for...

add exchange server
Here's my config: SERVER1-- OLD PENTIUM II-- MAIL GATEWAY, running IIS, GFI to scan for spam and virus. This server receives and cleans up incoming mail and sends to Server2. SERVER2-- Exchange 2003, OWA (this is the only Exchange Server in our 50 user organization.) Both Servers are NATTED behind a firewall with only the necessary ports forwarded As you may have guessed, I want to decommission SERVER1, which is not running Exchange-- and replace with an Exchange Server that will be setup with anti-virus/antispam. So lets suppose I replace SERVER1 with a faster machine ru...

Exchange 2003 Server
I have got an Exchange 2003 server up and running over this past weekend. My old 2000 Exchange server is still around also. What I am noticing is that when I am on the 2003 server I don't see all the options like I do on the 2000 server. When I am in the protocols on the 2003 server, I see my default virtual server for POP3 but nothing under SMTP, but I do see it when I am on the 2K server. The same goes for my connectors. I see them on the 2000 server but not on the 2003. any ideas? You should see SMTP under protocols and you should see the connectors folder under routing grou...

Hiding exchange alias in adress list

Exchange 2003 not receiving mail
I have installed exchange 2003 on our network and I am receiving mail from about 50% of our customers/vendors. They get no errors back when sending and I see nothing on our servers side to indicate a problem. It always takes about 5 minutes to receive any messages that come through, which isn't a big deal but it seems like that should be faster. We also just moved to a new ISP and have a full T1 connection so the connection shouldn't be a problem. Today I had them add a reverse DNS record for our ip because I have read that some servers use that as a spam blocker. I am not sure...

Reading material for someone new to Exchange
Hi, Exchange 2003 has recently been set up on our Small Business Edition 2003 server. Exchange Defrag/Slow message delivery
Hello all! We've been running into a minor issue that we've decided to take a look at. When someone sends an e-mail to the entire company, it can take up to 5 minutes for some recipients to receive the message. We were wondering if this had something to do with database defragmentation. I checked the Application Event logs and found that the online defragmentation for the Private Information Store has never completed. I'm seeing Event ID 704 entries stating that the Online Defragmentation was interrupted and terminated. This has been occuring every day going back to 1/...

Exchange Web Access Issue
Hello everyone, I posted a while back but looks like my post got lost. Anyways, I have Exchange 2003 installed on my Windows 2003 Enterprise server. I have exchange properly setup, and the Outlook Web Access isn't changed in anyways. I'm not sure what infomation to include, so just tell me. Basically, my clients can access my server without problems on a open network, without proxies. However, when they try to access from their workplace, which uses proxys, they run into issues. The initial login is fine, everything loads. However, if they try to refresh the folder list, create email...

Administrator 5.5 with Exchange Server 2003
I recently installed Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003. It came with Exchange Administrator 5.5. The administrator program does not work. When I try to connect to my server I get an error. I've browsed through hundreds of similar postings and one in particular mentioned that Admin 5.5 will not run on 2003. If this is true then how do I administer my exchange server? remove exchange 5.5 server without uninstalling
Currently I have exchange 5.5 running along with exchange 2003. The emails are routed from internet to 5.5 and then send over to 2003, and vice versa. Currently I do not have a mx record for exch 2003 server, I have one mx record only for 5.5. Now before completely removing exchange 5.5, is there anyway that I can stop the exchange services on 5.5 and see if everything will still function properly in the network. i.e. I should be able to send to external users outside my org and also receive emal successfully.I dont want to have any problems creep up later. Netbackup 6.0MP3 and Exchange 2003 Recovery Storage Groups
Hello, I am running Netbackup 6.0MP3 and Exchange 2003 in a clustered environment. I am attempting to restore from Netbackup a copy of one of our Exchange DBs to mount in my Recovery Storage Group. Anyone else have a similar setup that can shed some light on how to do this? My initial idea was to restore the priv.edb and priv.stm files and manually mount them in the Recovery storage group, but I have seen other posts mentioning restoring straight to the Recovery Storage Group. Documentation for Netbackup doesn't say specifically how to do this. I wouldn't mind doing this manually...
