NDR Message 5.7.1

I have a problem with message beging recieved through our exchange server.
This recently started. One of our other admins did some tweaking before he
went out of town and we are having a hard time finding out what was done and
yes we have tried to contact him.

Mail sent from exchange users come in fine but when sent from external
addresses (the ones we have tested) do not come in and get a ndr message. I
don't know how long this has been happening exactly but it has been a week
since the other admin left.

Used both DNSreports / DNSstuff and oddly both have the MX and DNS
successful. Here is the NDR:

Hi Monty,

It is most likley some type of delivery restriction, You should check
connection filtering, Sender filtering, recipient filtering found under
Global Settings | Message Delivery. You should also look for any Global
Receiving message size limits (Found under Global Settings | Message
Delivery | Defaults) and Global Accept & Deny List Configuration Under the
connection filtering tab.

Neither of these Global Settings have anything in them. Including any
exceptions / accept & deny list configuration. Each of them are blank unless
there is suppose to be something in there?

"Numeric Code: 5.7.1

Possible Causes: General access denied, sender access denied - the sender of
the message does not have the privileges required to complete delivery.
You are trying to relay your mail through another SMTP server and it does not
permit you to relay.
The recipient might have mailbox delivery restrictions enabled. For example, a
recipient's mailbox delivery restriction was set to receive from a Distribution
List only and non-members' email will be rejected with this error.
For Exchange Server 2003, a distribution list can be configured to restrict
mail delivery from unauthenticated users. Mail that is sent by using an
unauthenticated SMTP session are rejected.
Troubleshooting: Check system privileges and attributes for the contact and
retry the message. Also, make sure you are running Exchange 2000 Service Pack 1
or later for other potential known issues."

To know which messages were not answered using VBA. Messages read and unanswered. Presumably this is for Outlook? The object browser shows an UnRead property for mail items. Stopping the original email from being attached to the NDR
Hiya, Using Exchange 5.5 SP4 on NT 4.0 SP6a With the prevalence of "virusy" emails we receive, which are often sent to a bogus email address but happen to have our domain name in them, the messages get bounced but have the original message attached.
