Message Queue in Retry Mode

I am running an exchange server called MO. For no apparent reason the Queue
called Messages awaiting directorly lookup is now always in retry mode. The
number of messages is increasing as mails get sent and received. Internal
mail is not working, and external mail is not working.

The system uses a direct SMTP feed. The system is Exchange Server 2003 with
SP2 on a 2 server Domain. The FSMO is on the Primary DC, Excahnge is on an
addition DC. No unusual errors appear in the Event Logs even after increasing
the logging level to maximum on the Exchange Server.

Any suggestions would be apprecaitedl. Thanks

Since Exchange is installed on a DC, it will only use the DC its
installed on, so you can at least narrow down your troubleshooting
there.

Signature is messed up when sending NEW message
I'm using Outlook 2003 and if I reply to a message my signature works fine, but if I send a new message it puts all kinds of extra spacing in. If I was using work I would think that my paragraph line spacing was set to "double", but I'm not and there is no way to change it. Any suggestions? Is there a way to replace the default template for sending new mail? Remove the signature. Close Outlook, open Outlook, create a new signature, or choose the same signature that you use for the reply. "Ric Forney" <rforney@fechheimer.com> wrote in message news:ef...

Message box alternative
In my form, I have a set of 3 list boxes that have the multi-select option turned on. I would like to have some kind of box open when the user is in these fields that explains to select all that apply and then explains to use the Ctrl key for that but I don't want it to take the focus from the form and I don't want to the user to have to always hit OK. Is there any option to just have a note open and stay open while the user is in that box and then close upon Exit? Thanks so much! How to deal with message about links
Hello, I have written a VB6 application that parses apart the sheets in an Excel workbook into a number of small workbooks based on values in a column. The spreadsheets have formulas, some of them reference other workbooks, so whenever the program opens a sheet I get a dialog asking if I want to update. I can get rid of this by manually replacing all the formulas with data before running the program, but the workbook has five sheets and a number of hidden columns, so it is a bit of work to do it. The client would prefer if this was handled automatically. I think I know how to replace all th...

File is locked for editing message
I have excell 2007 and when I try to open a non shared file I created in my network share I get a message that the file is locked for editing. I have ownership of that share and I see no reason why this would come up. Is this an excel issue that can be fixed? Thanks Carl -- When you open a workbook in Excel a temporary copy is created. When you close the workbook the temporary file should be deleted. At times your OS does not do its job and the temp file is left open. This will give you the "locked for editing" message. It is usually necessary to re-boot to clear it o...

Outlook 2003, Cache Mode, Forms
Environment a) Outlook 2003 & Exchange 2003 b) Outlook XP & Exchange 5.5 I have a customized form (not published on the server, but downloadable from the Intranet). Message display format
I've noticed that sometimes messages appear in my inbox with a format that causes the cursor to appear as a little "hand" instead of the normal cursor, and I am unable to highlight and copy sections of the message. I don't know why this happens or if I am able to change the format of the message. For example, if it contained a website url and I wanted to copy and paste it, I'm unable to copy it because the little "hand" won't change to allow highlighting. Where can I get info on what this is, how to work with it, etc.???? THanks in advance....

message board or bulletin board
Hello. Working with ASP.Net and C#. Putting together a portal and the boss is asking for some type of message board or bulletin board feature that would be seen when the user first signs in. So if employee A has a message for employees D, E, F, when they signed in they would see the message, no others would. Why don't I get an error message?

I need a rule to MOVE messages instead of COPYING them; can anybody help?
Hi all, I get a lot of mail, and keep them organized by name of the contactperson. For example: mail I either send to or receive from Pete, has to be moved to the Outlook-folder "Pete", after the mail has been read by me (in case of a receipt from a message from Pete) or after it has been sent (in case of mail I sent to Pete). Outlook rules do not allow for this; you can only copy messages (which means you have duplicate messages in Outlook). Maybe a macro could do the trick, but you need to write macro's and I am not a technical guy:-(. Would anybody know a solution, or would a...

Many remote delivery SMTP queues containing single failed message
This is Exchange 2000 running as part of Small Business Server. I am seeing many (perhaps 60 or so) Remote Delivery queues in retry status under my default SMTP server. Each one has a single message from the Exchange postmaster and subject of "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)". The properties of the queues have one of these three diagnostic messages, in order of frequency: "Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS." "The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt." "An SMTP protocol error occurred." SMTP relay is open locally ...

message limits issue

messages out log
Hi guys, Which log should I be looking into to check if a local message has been sent off the exchange 2003 server? POP3 outgoing message error
Using pop3 I am getting an outgoing message error. I am able to receive messages fine but am not able to send them. How do I fix this? Me too! I get error message "...Connection to the server has failed..." even though it can receive OK. The answer is in the socket or registry settings, I think. I don't know enough about that to fix it. OWA messages blocked by Groupshield

Contacts in GAL using Cached Exchange Mode
Hey all I am using Outlook 2003 in cached exchange mode connecting to Exchange 2000. I have an issue when doing lookups for addresses in the GAL. Before I changed to cached exchange mode, I used to type the first part of someone's email address (ie cameron.mc) and press Crtl-K which would look up the contact from the GAL. It would also work by entering the contact name (ie cameron mcshane) and clicking Ctrl-K. However, once I chanegd to cached mode this no longer works. I now must either type the full address, or the contact as it appears in the GAL ('McShane, Cameron' or ...

Repeated message downloads
I have a recurrent problem with Entourage: e-mails from past weeks continue to download, and typically I will find between 700-2400 messages showing as unread. Even if I click "Delete from server", they still find their way into the inbox on repeated downloads. This does not happen when I use a browser and open my hotmail account, nor on my cellphone--only in Entourage. How do I stop this process--it results in lost messages as they may be mixed in with repeats. Bruce Becker Bruce, I have the same problem in Entourage. Get 100's of old deleted emails as well. Why is there a blank line where incoming email messages should be?
Some of my incoming email messages are replaced by a blank line. I have not changed any settings and am not applying a filter. There is no pattern to it; some incoming messages simply don't display. There is a blank space where an email message should be. My wife has the same problem, and she logs in as a different user.
