How to Mail Disable a Public Folder Exchange 2000

We have an Exchange 2000 Email Server, Each time a new Public folder
gets created for one of our customers, it associates this customer with
an email address, and tries to send email.

Does anyone know a way to disable the "mail enable" feature in Exchange
2000 System Manager so, that each of the hundreds of public folders
stop getting all these SPAM emails?

Please help.

When you created a PF, you have to specify is is mail enabled, otherwize it
is NOT.
if PF is mail enabled, make a right click and select disable mail

Hi Oz,

Thanks for responding.

We are running Exchange 2000 Server in Mixed Mode, so Public folders
are always mail-enabled and hidden from the GAL.

I am considering switching to Native mode, but this cannot be rolled
back. Is there anyway to un-check the mail-enabled feature from all of
these public folders, we have hundreds of folders? Or do you know an
easier way to accomplish this?

hello Mike

here is the solution for your case

Delete the Directory Objects for the Folders That You Do Not Want
Mail-Enabled
1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
2. On the View menu, click Advanced Features.
3. Navigate to the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container.

In the right pane, directory objects for public folders that are
mail-enabled are displayed.
4. Delete the directory objects for the folders that you do not want
mail-enabled.

I wish you'd qualify that statement. What you say is true only if the
Exchange organization is running in native-mode. Mixed-mode operation
will always mail-enable a public folder 'coz that's the way Exchange
5.5 did it.

You'll get an error every time you look at the property page of the
PF. The folder will still think it's mail-enabled but it the ESM won't
be able to locate the AD object representing the PF in the MESO
container.

I'm trying to do a Word mail merge from Access 2007 -- populating a Word 2007 template with data from recordsets built off queries.
