exchange Mail Backup Question

Windows 2003 R2
Windows 2003 Exchange Server

I have about 15 exchange users in my organization.
I would like to disable user to delete and Move any incoming and outgoing
mails at least one full backup (24h).
We do not arrow user to create Personal PST.

Right now, I can capture incoming mails only using forward and keep copy,
but I can not capture send mails.

I am looking if I can archive mail as soon as receive and send mails.
Archive PST is on server sheard dirve,
Once a month owner will look usermails and delete unnessesary (Junk) mails
to keep exchange mailbox smaller.

Backup is daily full backup using Backup Exec 12.5
I have 4 weeks tapes.

Please advise me.
Thank you.

You can't. If mail arrives in someone's inbox it's theirs to move,
delete, forward, reply etc.

What is your true, defined business requirement here?

Thank you Mark for quick reply

I as admin, I have to keep all e-mails in/out on backup tapes
to protect company.
That's all.
If you know other solution, Please advise me.

If you have a confirmed corporate policy handed to you to retain alll
inbound and outbound email then you need to journal. You cannot
protect once a mail gets into the inbox - you have to do it before the
mail arrives and once they've sent the message.

If you have a legal requirement then you have the funding to buy a
proper package. If the company will not spend the money on such a
package then you do not have a requirement and most certainly should
not be retaining email.

You must ensure that you do not retain anything in Exchange that you
have not specifically been instructed to, otherwise you will be doing
the oposite of protecting your company. You will be exposing it to
harm.

Please look into journaling.

It lets you capture all mail both sent and received. With Exchange 2007,
it is possible to do so on per-mailbox basis with journaling rules
although it may require an upgraded CAL.

You will want to get some legal guidance.

As far as actually implementing this, see

By the way, that link is not really correct for your needs.

Send As permission for mail-enabled list
I've set up a mail-enabled distro list in Exch2003. I've tried both Universal and Global and receive the same results. I have multiple users I need to add to this list and to have Send As permission (i.e. I need for multiple users to be able to send mail from this mail- enabled account). I've been configuring and re- configuring this for about 4 hours now and I've found that I add the group and then add a user and grant that user Send As permission. Removing Exchange User Attributes and the ADC
We merged an ADMTv2 created user account with an ADC created Contact, rather that the ADC created Disabled User. We would now like to get rid of the user account's association with the Contact info and merge the user account w/the ADC Disabled user; however, when we try to do that - using the ADClean util. - ADClean tells us we cannot as the user account is already mail enabled. REstoring a mail sotre to a newly installed exchange 2003
Hi, I have a windows SBS 2003 server installed with a couple of mailboxes on it. I backed up the mail store then decided to reinstall the OS. The reason to do this was to partition the disk differently. So I installed the OS from scratch, and now I need to restore my mail store backup done using ntbackup. Should I recreate the old users on my SBS2003 system or should I just restore the mail store on top of the exisiting mailstore created by the fresh installtion of the OS. I didn't backup anything else but the mailstore. The newly installed server uses the same domain name as the ol...

Hi all, I have an odd situation where mail destined for a different administrative group in the same domain stops after a few days; a restart of the server where mails are queing clears the problem. The destination admin group is attached via a connector (smtp), and it's this connector that goes into a retry state under fault conditions.
