Exchange 2007 OAB Creation
I've been having one heck of a time getting an Offline Address Book created
in Exchange 2007.
This is a completely independent test installation, all fresh. The problem
I'm having is with OALGen, it can't create an offline address book. I get
the following event errors:
--- FIRST ERROR ---
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9384

OALGen only supports alphanumeric and space characters on the offline
address name. The offline address list is not going ...OWA on Exchange 5.5.
About every 3 days, certain mailboxes cannot login to OWA
without me having to reboot the server. Also, these
mailboxes do not close out from Outlook 2000 when working
in my LAN.
Does anybody know what could be causing this?
If anyone in your organization has opened their mailbox with Outlook 2003,
this can cause cdo issues which will hang your inetinfo process. There is a
Q article on this and a downloadable patch.

Maybe you are up to date?
Maybe you installed a beta release of a service pack, never uninstalled it

I just installed SP2 and now when users want to logon, they have to put the
domain name with the user name. It used to work without the domain name.
Is there anyway to set it back to the way it was?
Is this a single server? with sp2 users should only need to enter in there
username. You need to check your HTTP virutal server in ESM. What domain is
it set to use?

We have changed this value with ADSIedit succesfully. But now there is a big

After changing costing to force mail to be routed through another smtp
connector, Redirect Rule stopped send mail to an outside address. Originally,
Exchange 5.5 mailbox (still resides on that box) used IMC successfully in
redirecting rules to the outside. After the cost for the IMC connector

I have my default sending message limit (in Global Settings/Message
Delivery/Defaults) set to 10MB. A user tried to send a 1GB+ message, and
was prevented from doing so.
My issue is: The 1GB message that the user sent, although it was rejected,
was processed through the local queues and returned to the users mailbox in
the form of an NDR (And thus inserted into the database). The server's
delivery performance was degraded during this endeavor... :-)
Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Are there any other limits
to be set? Is there a way to limit the size of the message...Exchange and/or POP3
I just came in to a client that is a small school that has approx 40
permanent staff and about 70-100 students on a 4 year program. Each year a
new group of students come in while a group graduates and leaves.
Currently the school uses Exchange for their email. Each student is given an
email address and this is the way the staff communicates with them. So the
students do not need any other function than email which they need to be
able to access remotely - ie via web or pop3 client.
They are running a Win2003 Server and Exchange.

We are running Exchange 2003 Enterprise on a Windows 2003 Server
standard platform. The server has 4 GB of physical memory.
I have found conflicting information on Microsoft's site, regarding
whether using the /3 GB switch on my server. Some of the documentation
says to only use it with Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows 2003
Enterprise Server, and that using it on Windows 2003 Standard can cause
the OS to become unstable, while other documentation says that the /3GB

Which is it?

When using Outlook 2003 with an Exchange server, where do

Don't use a PST file for delivery or use POP to connect to your Exchange
mailbox, and your data will always be in your mailbox on the server, and
hence visible in OWA.
