Exchange DST Patch KB926666

The DST patch for exchange server doesn't allow any user to send as a domain
admin.
This is an issue because us 4 domain admins at work here can't send emails
from our
blackberry anymore. We have tried to manually reapply the send as permission
to each
domain admin account, but after about an hour the permission is removed. We
also have
set the send as permission on the AdminSDHolder object and have the domain
admins
inherit the permission. That doesn't work because after the same period of
time the
check box that allows the account to inherit permissions from above becomes
unchecked.
Is there any way to apply the send as permission to the domain admins?
Microsoft has a
work around, but the work around calls for us admins to create a new mailbox
and give
us domain admins send as rights to that mailbox. This isn't what we want to
do, that is too
much work for something so simple as email. Please help.

changing adminsdholder works, though you need to wait for it to replicate to
all DC's, then restart Exchange so that it picks up the new ACL.

I strongly suggest you look at changing to separate user and admin accounts
though. having an awebb account for everyday use and an a-awebb account for
admin has not been a burden on me at all and it is a significant improvement
in security to the organization.

OWA on Exchange 5.5.
About every 3 days, certain mailboxes cannot login to OWA without me having to reboot the server. Also, these mailboxes do not close out from Outlook 2000 when working in my LAN. Does anybody know what could be causing this? If anyone in your organization has opened their mailbox with Outlook 2003, this can cause cdo issues which will hang your inetinfo process. There is a Q article on this and a downloadable patch. -- regards, Michael Abbaticchio MVP for Microsoft Exchange Server http://mvps.org "Jason" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news...

OWA Logon with Exchange SP2
I just installed SP2 and now when users want to logon, they have to put the domain name with the user name. It used to work without the domain name. Is there anyway to set it back to the way it was? Thanks. Is this a single server? with sp2 users should only need to enter in there username. You need to check your HTTP virutal server in ESM. What domain is it set to use? Renaming Exchange user
Hi, following problem: User has new name and the Exchange account and e-mail name has to be renamed. We have changed it from ADuser interface. But that wont change "legacyexchangeDN"-value which is visible via Outlook2003 when you type name and autocomplete address. This old value is there. We have changed this value with ADSIedit succesfully. But now there is a big problem with users that have sent email to this employee before. They still have this old value in Outlooks cache! You can empty this from Your own outlook, but not from everyone ... Theres easily 100 person arou...

Redirect Rule Stopped Working using SMTP Connector on Exchange 200
After changing costing to force mail to be routed through another smtp connector, Redirect Rule stopped send mail to an outside address. Originally, Exchange 5.5 mailbox (still resides on that box) used IMC successfully in redirecting rules to the outside. After the cost for the IMC connector increased, it forced all mail to be routed through an SMTP connector to an Exchange 2003 server. How can I get the rule to redirect to an outside address again using the smtp connector? Exchange 2003 Sending message size limit
I have my default sending message limit (in Global Settings/Message Delivery/Defaults) set to 10MB. A user tried to send a 1GB+ message, and was prevented from doing so. My issue is: The 1GB message that the user sent, although it was rejected, was processed through the local queues and returned to the users mailbox in the form of an NDR (And thus inserted into the database). The server's delivery performance was degraded during this endeavor... :-) Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Are there any other limits to be set? Is there a way to limit the size of the message...

Exchange and/or POP3
Hi all, I just came in to a client that is a small school that has approx 40 permanent staff and about 70-100 students on a 4 year program. Each year a new group of students come in while a group graduates and leaves. Currently the school uses Exchange for their email. Each student is given an email address and this is the way the staff communicates with them. So the students do not need any other function than email which they need to be able to access remotely - ie via web or pop3 client. They are running a Win2003 Server and Exchange. Each year, students are added/removed from the syste...

Exchange 5.5 #34
I have taken over a new position and they have had no luck in the past with sucessful incremental backups of the system. In the light of things, the previous administrator deleted a known viable user account from Exchange administrator. Since then, is there a way to just restore that single account from a known first full backup. Also where are the mailboxes stored? I thought they were in the Inetpub folder within the exchange folder? Any assistance would assist.. Conflicting information about using /3GB switch on Exchange 2003 Server?
We are running Exchange 2003 Enterprise on a Windows 2003 Server standard platform. The server has 4 GB of physical memory. I have found conflicting information on Microsoft's site, regarding whether using the /3 GB switch on my server. Some of the documentation says to only use it with Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows 2003 Enterprise Server, and that using it on Windows 2003 Standard can cause the OS to become unstable, while other documentation says that the /3GB switch is safe to use across all versions of Windows 2003 Server. Which is it? You can use it on either the ...

If the problem persists, contact your administrator. Home The "Home" is a link to the inbox, which works just fine. leave copy of email msg on exchange server
When using Outlook 2003 with an Exchange server, where do you make the setting to leave a copy of the email on the server for viewing via web access? Send exchange email from domain I don't own
Can an Exchange mailbox be reasonably configured to send mail that appears to originate from a domain that does not resolve back to that Exchange server? I'm interested in using a public hosted Exchange service (Mailstreet, etc) instead of my department's existing Exchange server. Would this violate good-practice, causing most administrators to refuse? My email currently appears at "damien@example.com". I can configure "mail.example.com" to redirect my mail (without modifying the SUBJECT or TO headers) to any email address of my choice, and "smtp.ex...

Exchange CALs #2
