Email Archiving #4

Hello All,

I've been tasked with coming up with a solution for archiving email
for regulatory purposes. I found two products that I really like: GFI
Mail Archiver and Message Soultion Enterprise Archiver. I really like
the Message Soultions product, bit they come in at roughtly three
times the price of GFI. There is one noticeable diference: Message
Solutions offers an Outlook plugin that is really nice, users dont
know and dont need to know if their mail is in the Information Store
or in an archive, whereas, GFI offers a web interface for users to
view and retrieve their archived mail.
Does anyone have expeirence with archiving mail (any war stories?) and
does anyone have any expierence with either of these products?

Thanks very much for your help!

Athena Archiver is an email archiving solution that supports disaster
recovery, business continuity, compliance, and legal support
features. It has a number of unique features including a next
generation flash based web client, millions of company wide search
results returned in a second and dynamic drag and drop tagging of
messages allowing for easy management. It also has an Outlook plug-in
similar to the one you mentioned. You can read about our solution on
our website http://www.athenaarchiver.com, however, our live online
demo http://demo.athenaarchiver.com speaks more to the amazing search
functionality of our system. When you log in, you can search and
retrieve over 500,000 messages from the Enron archive so that you can
see Athena Archiver in action on a true corporate mail archive.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi
Naxian buts heads with these guys every day. GFI is a low end product
and not the best on the market. Many of the solutions rely on the
journalling feature in Exchange and leave you stranded if exchange
goes down for any reason, plus journally is very resource hungry.

If no decsion has been made I sincerely recommend that you look at

Try looking at KVS Enterprise Vault now marketed by Symantec, works
very well on medium to large sites. It is a little costly though.

I've read some of the other posts on this problem, but nothing I've tried seems to work. Here's the background. I'm using Outlook 2000 (SP-3).
