#### formula question and issue

```Hi,
When I type this formula in Excel it gives me the wrong amount.
=SUM(H1257)*(5.25%)+(0.6)*1.27         -  H1257 = \$15.50
It gives me the answer to be \$1.58 which is wrong.
The clear answer is truly \$1.79
Is there something wrong with my formula or is there an adjustment I need to
make with the software itself.  This is frustrating the heck outof me.  Why
can't Excel give the correct answer of \$1.79?
thanks
Assuming that the 1.27 is actually \$1.27, the correct answer is \$1.57575.
\$15.50 x 5.25% is \$0.762; \$1.27 x .6 is \$0.81375
\$0.762 + \$0.81375 = \$1.57575
```\$15.50 x 5.25% = 0.81375

0.81375 + 0.60 = 1.41375

1.41375 x 1.27 = 1.7954625

This is how I calculate my Ebay fees and it maches up with them. I want to
implment this in my spreadhseet so I do not have to calulate it every time
but it does not seem to match up with Ebay or myself. It gives me \$1.58 for
some reason. I just need the right formuls to put in.

thanks

```If cell H1257 has the value 15.5, then the formula
=(H1257*5.25%+0.6)*1.27
returns
1.79
Don't know if this is it though.
```Your order of operations is hanging you up.

Try  =(H1257*5.25%+0.6)*1.27

Which returns 1.79

Pivot Table Question #12
I've created a pivot table and it works well - counts the number of items in each category. What it doesn't do is count the number of blank cells. It gives me a blank category but, alas, it is blank. I want the blank category line to tell me how many blank cells I have. I know that this is possible, but just can't seem to make it work. Can someone help? Thanks! To count the blanks you could use a space character, or the formula ="", in the source data, instead of leaving the cells blank. The pivot table will be able to count those. General question re Error Handling
hello experts This is just a general question for my own education. I've dabbled in a fair amount of Access VBA in the past, but have just started learning about Excel VBA. In Access, we would use Error Handling in almost every sub, but In Excel, error Handling seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I can't even find much about it in the Excel VBA help, and there are relatively few references to it in this forum. What gives? Just Curious Terry W. Terry, I use it all the time. Excel 2000 insists on typing a formula
I was sent a spreadsheet by a coworker that I want to edit. Specifically, I want to have two date columns, and a third that calculates the number of days between two dates. On a sheet I created from scratch, everything worked fine (format the dates, the "# of days" column formatted as a number). In this sheet nothing works. Every time I try to type a date, i.e. any number with a slash, it assumes I want to type a formula and adds an = sign and then calculates the date a 1/0/1900. It shows my most recently used formulas in the Name Box, which my other sheet doesn't do ...

Hi I use these formulae to insert the date and time in separate cells on a worksheet : A14 =TODAY() B14 =NOW()-TODAY() They update automatically when I open the sheet. It would be better however if they didn't do this until I use the Refresh All function. Is it possible to stop these functions updating until I need them to do so? I know I can switch global options off in the Options section of the program , but I'm loathe to do this for the sake of this one sheet. Grateful for any advice. ...
