#### Summing non consecutive cells

```I am attempting to add every other cell in a 958 row set of numbers.
For instance: =SUM (F5+F7+F9+F11+F13......F957) and then I want to add all
the even number rows, =SUM (F6+F8+F10+F12+F14......F958).
Any suggestions other than typing this formula out.
Thanks
```Use two helper columns (column G and H for instance) and put the formula
=IF(MOD(CELL("row",F5),2)=0,F5,0) in Column G for even rows and use formula
=IF(MOD(CELL("row",F5),1)=0,F5,0) in Column H for odd rows.

```For odd rows, starting at F5 down to F957, try this:
=SUMPRODUCT((MOD(ROW(F5:F957)-5,2)=0)*(F5:F957))
For even rows, starting at F6 down to F958, try this:
=SUMPRODUCT((MOD(ROW(F6:F958)-6,2)=0)*(F6:F958))
```CLR,

I tried your formula, and quickly learn that the B:B function designated
column B.
I did try to change the B's ... to F's .
Since I was working in column F. I do not understand the A:A. I do
understand changing the odd to even. My array is F6 down to F922. If your
formula could relate to this array, I may get it a bit more.

Thanks

```It's kind of academic now since you seem happy with the SUMPRODUCT solution,
but just  to close the loop.......
Assume column G as your helper column in which you put the "odd" and "even"
notations.........then the formula could be modified as follows to fit your
range:
=SUMIF(G6:G922,"odd",F6:F922)
```Cell with "row" as the information type returns the row number of the cell
the data is in. Mod (as well as the Cell function) are explained in the Help
file. Simply click on the fx on the formula bar and type in the function and
click on the "help on this function" and a detailed explanation will be
provided. Or simply search on the function name.

Maybe capture the data and then chart it or a macro which plots that cell every minute? Bob You would need to capture the value of that changing cell periodically in a growing table, possibly in a different sheet. For example, every time you update it via the DDE, you could run a code that copies the value of the cell to the last row of the table. Use a dynamic chart to plot the values in t...

summing number of 'y's in a filtered column
Basically I have a spreadsheet which is filtered by column R and I wan to sum the number of 'Y's in column P based only on the visibl filtered table rather than hidden rows. Now I know the subtotal worksheet function will ignore hidden rows however it does not seem to be able to total up the number of 'Y's i the range of cells. The count function would sum up the number of 'y' but it counts the hidden columns as far as I know. Is there some other function which would allow me to sum the number o 'y's ignoring hidden rows -- neowo ---------------------------...

Use the same cell from many worksheets to create a chart?
I have a new worksheet for each day, labeled with the date. I want to pull data from the same cell (like "P-3") in each worksheet and put it into a chart. Example: On ten worksheets, pull the data from cell P-3 (arbitrarily called "income"). Then, put that P-3 data into a chart that tracks daily income: the date itself (taken from the worksheet name) plus the data. Any idea how to do this? You need to create a summary region on a worksheet, and use this as the data source for your chart. See this page for more details: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsHowTo/Char...

Problem with copying a to from date to another cell
I am trying to enter the first 7 days of the year in one cell. ie: A1 -> 1/2/05 to 1/8/05 And then I want to drag that down to 53 cells and have it copy in the following format. ie: A2 -> 1/9/05 to 1/15/05 A3 -> 1/16/05 to 1/22/05 etc... Is this possible? I would do it by using two separate columns, typing in the two top row dates, the highlight the area you wish to fill, then Edit > Fill > Series > Trend..........then when you have the two columns of dates, use a third helper column with this formula copied down...... =TEXT(A1,"mm/dd/yy")&...
