Click on your cell and then go to the 'Data' tab at the top menu and click on
Validation. You can then select 'decimal' for what's allowed and allow
anything between -99999999999 and 99999999999. If someone enters letters
instead of numbers it will provide an error message, which you can specify
under the 'Error Alert' tab on that validation area.

Try IsNumber(). It returns a true or false. You can put this inside an if
to produce other messages, for example: =if(isnumber(A2),"","OOPS").

Alternatively you can use a conditional format within the cell you're
testing to change the format (like background color) if it's non numeric.

To do this, go to conditional format, select "formula is", and type:
= NOT(ISNUMBER(A2))
And then select your format

Use Format | Conditional Formatting
Set Formula to =NOT(ISNUMBER(A1)) ---- change reference to suit need
And make font and/or pattern to colour (red?)

best wishes

Does anyone know if the new requirements for the 2007 EEO-1 report will be available for download at year-end? I just replied to a post from 7/19/06 by jnason on this same topic in the hopes that it would generate a response from MS. I use a computer, shared by others. I would like Outlook to ask for a password if someone double clicks it, so nobody else can read my mail. I cannot log off of windows as it needs to be a shared PC. The only workaround I can think of is to require a password protector program to require a password if someone tries to run outlook. Having trouble sorting numerical data from SQL analysis cube
I've built a cube with a numerical dimension in SQL 2000 analysis services. Using Numeric Values from Formulas
Hello All I have created a formula in one column that returns a value of 5 if a given line entry is more than 5 years old. What I want to do is then say " if (and((d3>5, b3>0),"Yes","") What this does is if the entry is over 5 years old and there is a value greater than 0 in cell b3, then give a value of "yes". However since cell D3 contains a formula it does not work! If I were to manually type in the values in Column D then it works ok.
