It depends on which version of Excel as to how.

It is also preferred that the content of you request not be typed in the
Subject field. Please take advantage of the Message area, even for short
inquiries.

If you mean by "disk", "floppy disk", don't try to do that. Saving directly to
a floppy often corrupts a file. Save the backup copy to your hard drive, then
copy to the floppy from Windows Explorer.

Myrna;

Thanks for reply. I would like to have excel prompt me to create a backup,
preferable to a cd, each time I exit program. Other programs such as
Quicken, Quick Books etc. do that. I'm not real versed on excel. I've tried
to research and see if it can be done. The only thing I've found is the
backup copy option to my hard drive.

Thanks Again

You would need to write a macro to do that, capturing the BeforeClose event,
and (unless you know how to create application-level events), you would have
to put the macro in every workbook that you create.

number rounding in MS Excel
Hi, This may have been answered many times. In MS EXCEL is there a way that it calculates all numbers to 2 decimal digit accuracy instead of the 15 digit default? Thanks in advance for the answer. Hi You can set your decimal places in your cells as 2 and then check Precision As Displayed on the Tools / Options / Calculation page. Be careful though, it means what it says!! -- Andy. SpreadSheetML (XML for Excel)
Hello All, A client of mine has Office X for Mac. I am wondering if this edition of Excel supports SpreadSheetML. I have heard that it also support the new Open XML formats (same as Office 11). Does anyone know if either of these statements is accurate? Thanks in advance, -KJ Hi KJ: I believe that both statements are wrong. The XML converter for Office Next on the Mac has not yet been developed. It's not likely to come until after the PC Office team ships their product to retail -- until they stop CHANGING the thing :-) My guess is that the converter won't appear until sometime...

Public Folder link to Excel File
Hi - I have a user that claims that he had a shortcut to a spreadsheet "in his public folders" at his old job. Obviously, he's an end user that may or may not know what he's talking about.... I'm trying to figure out the best way to accomodate him. He basically wants an Excel file stored on a shared folder to be available to all user as either a shortcut, or a link in the public folders (can't post to a folder as he will be updating the sheet regularly). When a user clicks on the shortcut/link, it would just launch Excel and display the file. Anybody have any ideas...

Filters in Excel 2003
I am using Filters in Excel 2003. Every cell in sheet B is linked to every cell in sheet A. That way I can alter data in B without corrupting the original data in A. I then highlight the cells in B that I want to assign a filter to and select Advanced Filter. I have no criteria so I do not set that. I click OK. I then select Filter again and this time select Auto Filter. Drop down arrows appear at the top of my columns. Great, no problems so far, I then select from the drop down list the criteria that I want to filter. Again no problems, my list filters correctly. But once I have do...

Multiple copies of email in "Forward to"contact
HIe, I am running Exchnage 2003. My CEO has a conatct in our organisation that refer to his blackberry contact. I have set the forwarding to also keep a copy in his mailbox. What happens is that three copies of his forwarded email hit his blackberry account! Only one hits his internal mailbox. What I ahve determined is that the front end Exchange server seems to be creating the additional copies. Is this how its meant to be (don think so cos its such a nuisance and my CEO keeps complaining about it). How do I tell the front end server that this guy's mail server is the one that...

Page setup for 8.5x11 calendar w/picture on tabloid paper?
How can I set up a calendar with 8.5x11 (landscape) pages with pictures for each month to print on tabloid (11x17) paper so it can be saddle stiched? I would like the picture on the top half and calendar on the bottom half. I keep ending up with two of the same pictures on one page and two calendars on the next page. Thanks, Bob I assume you are taking this to a professional printer so why not just set each page up as a landscape 8 x 11 and let your printer do the rest? -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "Bob at 4799" <Bob at 4799@discussions.microsoft.com>...

Non-VBA way of making custom menus.
Sorry for the new thread but even on Google, the thread isn't showing up. Well, it was SOOO easy, as I knew it would be. The webpage I quoted in my message this morning didn't mention the "New Menu" at all! So, here is the non-VBA way to create a custom menu: - TOOLS > CUSTOMIZE - under the categories available choose NEW MENU and then drag the NEW MENU option under the Commands window up to the menu bar (like D'UH!! <lol> Wish all those hours spent searching yielded webpages that gave this! <g>) - THEN one can go back to the MACROS category a few line...

printing multiple copies of Sigel GmbH
I have made a tent card in a small size of 5.588cm x 4.191cm for a swing tag, using Sigel GmbH in the "other labels" section. It prints one copy perfectly, leaving room on the page for at least about another 5 copies (which is what I want), but when in the print page section it doesn't give me the option to print multiple copies on the page. This will be an enormous waste of paper if I have to print the number of copies individually on each page. HELP! -- candere What is the product number for this label? There is a table that I have to use to determine what the percentage would be, how would I write an equation for that. The table is on another sheet in the document so that would have to be there too. Basically, the way that my commissions are calculated is that we have to take what I sold in any given month and find out what percentage of my yearly plan i...

Some Excel formatting functions taking a long time to work #2
