How to goto cell containing specific date

Thought I asked this before, but can't find the thread w/ my question or any 
replies...

I have a worksheet wih a full year's dates in the cells running down a 
colum, with other data for each date in the the adjacent columns;  Instead of 
scrolling up & down to a cell with a specific date I'm looking for, is there 
another way to goto a cell containing a specific date? (e.g., today(), or 
another specific date)

In case this is pertinent: the date series begins with the entry of one date 
(e.g., 01/01/2010 in cell A1), with the dates in subsequent rows arrived at 
by adding a day (e.g., B1 has the formula =A1+1, C1 has =B1+1, etc.)

Is there a way to program a cell so that if you just enter something like an employee ID # it will automatically change it to the official name needed on the report?? I'm having a problem where the grouping is coming out wrong. I have dates ranging from October 2003 to June 2004. When I group by month, it gives me a January - November groupings vs. a October - June groupings. Hello On Sheet1, I can see all text in cells that have lots of text in them, but have cells to the right that are empty. How do I replace the last entire word in text cells?
I understand the REPLACE command but it seems restricted to characters or bytes. Can't open doc. Too many different cell formats.
I am working on creating a spreadsheet. It contains a lot of conditional format as well as cell formats. I went to change a cell background color and a message came up that said "Too many different cell formats" and would not let me proceed. I am trying to use the PERCENTILE function with specific cells in a column.
