Excel Calculations Open in Manual Occasionally

MSOffice 2003, WinXP. When I open Excel, the Calculation Option defaults to
Manual instead of remaining on Automatic. Is this a bug in Excel? I never
set it to Manual. Thoughts can be posted or sent rich32822(Remove

If the first workbook you open is set to manual it will change the setting
for other workbooks as well
meaning that if someone is sending you a workbook with this set, you open it
by opening the attachment and
Excel opens. Then you close this particular workbook and you open a new
workbook, this workbook will now be set to manual

PDF Table to Excel Spreadsheet
This has been asked in numerous places all over the web but I have not found a workable solution. We have a mainframe system that generates PDF reports for billing. However, few people in our organization these days speak mainframe. We need Excel to do calculations on the data. I began working on a method for converting using UEdit Macros and an Excel macro because the fields are fixed-width. My attempts have been unsuccessful. Here is what I want to accomplish: -Copy a region of text from a PDF -Paste into Excel -Break the values out into the appropriate cells. http://www.google.com/sea...

Can a macro open another worksheet?
Hello, I've got a macro that I need to run on about 200 spreadsheets. Is there a way to get it to select and open all 200 spreadsheets? Thanks, Art. Are they all in the same folder? In fact, do you need to open all the workbooks in a folder? Or all the workbooks in multiple known folders? If you have files in one folder--but you want to choose (click on the first and ctrl-click on subsequent in the file|open dialog), you can do something like: Option Explicit Sub testme() Dim myFileNames As Variant Dim iCtr As Long Dim wkbk As Workbook myFileNames = Ap...

How do I use excel names with INDIRECT with charts
Hello, I want to create a Chart that does not directly reference cell-ranges (i.e. A1:A6), but excel-names that make the reference sheet-independent. Problem: This works fine in cells but not in charts Excel name definition: =INDIRECT("R3C2";0):INDIRECT("R3C5";0) Any idea about this? Thanks in advance, Holger. Box when opening File
Quick question...When I open up one of my saved files, Visio automatically puts some kind of box (function box possibly) around my heading and some of the text. I'll take it off and save and it isn't there. But when I close the file and then open it up again later it's there again. I try to delete the box but it deletes my text with it. I can't resize or delete the box (actually conjoined boxes) by itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to call...214-981-6324. Thanks! Problems saving excel file from outlook

What about 'Manual' is it that Microsoft Developers don't understa
I am at my wits end with Excel, and with this issue in particular. First Excel crashes and 'restores' my extensive 100 sheet 50.000 record worksheet by removing indents from every record. Indents are criticial as they determine relationships between the records for later parsing. Fortunately I ran a script that derived the Indent in another column. However every time I add a record it recalculates everything to zero (due to it's prior crash) So I turned calculate to Manual. That means me, the human being, the customer, the client manually tells the program, the ...
