BUG -- SUM after importing data

Hi,
I've been trying to find some info on this bug but so far nothing has worked.
I have copied a table from the web and am now trying to do so simple SUM
functions. But it's not working.
I have tried to import the data after exporting them (in case HTML is an
issue), but nothing.
I have tried some copy and paste special but didn't work.
So please help. I have Excel 2000 on XP. Email me at oliviermoratin@yahoo.com

Thanks again

Hi
try the following:
- copy an empty cell
- select your imported data
- goto 'edit - Paste Special' and choose 'Add'

It is unlikely there is a bug in Excel causing this. It is more likely that
what you think you are seeing in the imported data does not represent what is
truly there.

What does "not working" mean?

What result do you get?

One factor that occurs with HTML data is a terminal char(160) after your data.
This is an "invisible" character, but changes the way excel treats data.

I have ran into "errors" like this where the numeric data was formatted as
text. If that is the case, Excel will treat the numbers as text and not do
numeric calculations on them.

how do I enable "import text file" excel 2002?
When importing text files into an Excel worksheet I previously went to "data" > "import external data" > "import text file" With Excel 2002 my choices lead me to a"select data source" window which is much more cumbersome. Does the "import text file" still exist in excel 2002? I pretty much use: file|open and copy that imported data to where I want it. But you can add an icon to your favorite toolbar to skip a step or two. tools|customize|commands tab|Data category look for "import data" and drag it to where you want. (n...

Data won't display under Employee link
Hey there, We have Business Portal setup running on our GP 8.0 environment. We have a link called Pay, under the employees header. User entered data in XML
I'm writing data the user enters out to an XML file (using DataSet.WriteXML; DataSet is a typed DataSet created from an XML Schema). The problem I'm having is the user can (and needs to) enter characters like &, < and >. Is there some .NET function (maybe something in System.Xml) that will take a string and format it for output to an xml file (such as change all &'s to &, etc.)? I'd hate to have to do String.Replace("&", "&").Replace(...).Replace(...) all the fields manually, but if that's my only alternative... Ne...

BUG: CFrameWnd::OnDDEExecute MFC 7.1
This function is executed when a application file is double-clicked to open in a VC++ application. Specifically, this function is enabled by RegisterShellFileTypes () in the application's InitInstance. However, under MFC 7.1 for VC++ .NET 2003, CFrameWnd::OnDDEExecute has a bug that repeatedly generates this error message in the debugger Error: failed to execute DDE command ''. Therefore, the problem is that the command is not being propagated properly to this function, since the string should be something like '[open("C:\YourFileNameHere")]' rather...

Sum from Table
Hello. I am creating a database to track a bank balance. I have a table called BankingMain, where I put all deposits in one column, and withdraws in another column. I have several forms where I would like to display the working balance in my account. The problem I am finding is that it will only let me sum the amounts on the page. Is there a way I can get a text box on the footer of my form to give me a running balance by summing all the withdraws and subtracting them from the sum of all deposits from my BankingMain table? ...

Applying formulas only to the subtotals of a data list
I have a large data list with subtotals (in fact with nested subtotals). I have collapsed the list so that only the subtotals are showing. Next I set up a few columns to the right of the data list with the intent of applying certain calculations, again ONLY to the subtotals. Here lieth the problem: when I set up the formulas for the first subtotal and attempt to simply drag it down, Excel obviously assumes that the copied formula applies to the next row of the full-blown, uncollapsed data list. Is there any way to accomplish the task without having to manually create a separate table ...
