Bar chart help wanted
Hello to everybody !
I have this kind of data:
and I need to create bar chart that would have a bar of the hight equal to 1
at each time value where the "value" in table (Y-axis) equals one (and also
between "one"s values). In all other time values the Y value is zero !
Excel bar chart seems to omit all values that are not in the dataset ! I
need to include also those time values that are not expli...Multiple Classes
I have a table that contains all the classes for 3800 students. Each student
times 7 gets you around 23000 classes, each record contains:
SSN, LocalID, Name, Subject (ELA, Sci, SS, Math are the only ones I care
about), Class Level (1,2,3,4), Teacher Name, Period, and Course Name.
The problem is, some students will have 2 ELA or Sci classes due to
failures, illness, skipping etc. I need to know which is the higher course.
No problem, I made a select query, put in SSN, Subject (=ELA), Level (set to
Max), Teacher Name, and Period.

...How do I get a chart to only display the dates in my table?
I am trying to graph a large group of data. It is a series of dates (not all
consecutive) - with the time it takes to do a task on each of the dates.
When I graph it - it fills in all the "missing" dates. For instance lets say
a set of data would be:
Date: 12-1-08 12-5-08 12-6-08 12-6-08 12-12-08
Time: .5 .34 .93 1.2 .25
On my graph it would put a date for every date between 12-1 and 12-12 even
if there is no data. Is there any way to have Excel graph only the dates
that have data?

Chart menu > Source Data > Series tab. Select a series, then use the X Values (or
Categories, depending on chart type) edit box to select your range of X values.

...Gantt chart labels missing
Please forgive me, I hardly ever use excel charts.
I wanted to make a gantt chart with time, so I download the gantt template
Then I used this article to change it to hours, and amazingly for a
Microsoft article it was really helpful
However I now have a lovely Gantt chart in hours, but every other title on
the left (the tasks) is missing. I have tried making the font smaller and
the chart bigger but that has not helped.
I have searched in google groups, but not seen anything similar.

I have a column in my source data called "TIER" so the values are 1, 2, 3
etc. when I convert to a pivot chart I want those values/bars to be
automatically & permanently assigned a specific color. Eg. Tier 1 = Green,
Tier 2 = Yellow etc.

The colours in a chart are taken from default settings for the data series in
the defined order. You can change these default settings in
Tools/Options/Color(tab). You see the 56 standard colours and under the thin
line the colours for Chart fills and Chart lines. The first series is the
left colour, etc up to 8 colou...Two sheets merged to one changing colour?
If you had 2 or more spreadsheets giving the same info but in
different areas, is it possible to merge all the info into one sheet?
Week ending dates across the top, left hand side operation bein
carried out, cells are coloured in a colour according to area,
if it is possible, if an operation being carried out coincided wit
another operation would the cells then divide in colour?
Hope ive explained the question well tried to keep it simple.

Blank (null) values plot as zeros in my charts. In excel 2003 I used
tools-options-active chart-plot empty cells as but I can't figure out how to
do this in excel 2007.
On the Chart Tools > Design tab, click on Select Data, then click the Hidden
and Empty Cells button on the dialog (bottom left corner). Note that this
only works for true blank cells, not for formulas which return "". This is
not a blank, but a short piece of text, which Excel evaluates as zero.

When I multiply two vector arrays, one in a column and another in a row, I
do it with the TRANSPOSE() function. Long time ago someone told me that the
same thing could be done using simbols in a special way (brackets, may be).
I used the method and it worked, but now I can not remember it. It had
advantages over the TRASPOSE() function, so if anyone remember how this is
done, I'll preciate letting me know.

When opening files via your favourites in Excel 2003, the default file type
is shortcut and I can only access excel files by change the file of type each
time. Is there a way I can set this function to automatically look at excel
files whenever I open up excel?
I think these dialogs try to help you by remembering what you did last time.
This is slightly quicker for me: Instead of using the dropdown and looking for
the excel files, I'll just type:
in the filename box and hit enter.
(or even *.xl* if you need .xlt, .xla and .xls....)

By default bar charts don't display percentages, however, you could create
custom data labels by combing a calculation of the percentage with the actual
value in another range and the using a program like the free XL Chart Labeler
to pick up that range for the data labels.

(for pre-test days) then a space followed by a single line for the test day.

Tutorials and Cus...Software Changed symbol for stock and now can not fix
When I turned on Microsoft Money this morning, discovered that the stock
symbol on one of my stocks had been changed and it is now reporting
completely wrong pricing, etc. How do I correct the stock symbol back to the
correct one for the stock? I hope I do not have to delete stock and start
from scratch reentering information for the last 4 years........

We are using Exchange 2003, all of our users have a restricted mailbox size.
The issue that we encountered is that when a user reached the maximun size
of the mailbox, they can't send or receive any email, so we will asked the
user to housekeep or increase the mailbox temporally but the time for the
increased of the mailbox size to take effect is too long. So how do we make
it to take effect immediately ? We did asked the user to logoff and login
again or restart their pc but still it did not take effect immediately.
Any ideas ?
