trying to store non-zero numbers from a list into sequential cells
I am a complete novice with Excel, I am using Excel 2002 with windows xp (home). I have list of numbers, some zero some none zero, I am trying to extract the non-zero numbers and store them in sequential cells (i.e. if a1>0 then store it in x1, if a2>0 then store it in x2, etc) but can't figure out how to get the cell to iterate. There doesn't appear to be a "For" function ("for x=1 to 10, ..., next") and you can only "nest" 7 "if" functions (which seems a terribly cumbersome way of doing it anyhow). Any suggestions (please keep them...

Master pack quantity (MPQ)
I need a little clarification on when to and not to use Master pack quantity (MPQ). Some items, like chain oil I order a box of 12 when ordering, so I think that using MPQ of 12 makes sense there. I have inventory items however that seem different though. For instance, a box of bulk bike chains. The distributor considers this ONE ITEM and it has a cost that reflects the 25 unpackaged chains inside -- I order ONE of these items to get 25 chains. Do I use MPQ in this instance? I wouldn't think so. How should I treat inventory items that I buy ONE of, but sell its components indivi...

Service Pack reinstall
I have a debate with an ex co-worker(who left me with this mess) about how hotfixes should be applied. He claims that after installing a hotfix, you should run SP4 again. I say its not necessary and possibly harmful to your system. Since it may copy old files onto your system. I do not claim to know a lot about Exchange and he has been working with it for years. What are your guys/gals thoughts on this? Its a friendly debate, I think we have a few beers and dinner at hooters riding on it.. haha! Hi there Today at lunch I tried to learn how to try and catch an exception. I've been wanting to learn how to read the registry in prep for the Scripting Games :) Anyway I can't seem to catch the exact exception I can only catch the generic system.exception even thought $error tell me I have write name. Could someone else try for me <code> $ErrorActionPreference = "stop" Try { Get-ItemProperty -Path "HKCU:\Control Panel\Desktop\" -Name Wallpaper2 } Catch [System.Management.Automation.PSArgumentException] { "caught a PSArgumentExce...

Get this error message when trying to print an HTML email using Outlook 2002 10.6515.6735 SP3. I've seen lots of single post threads regarding this issue with no responses. The problem is, the moment lasts up to an hour. Are there any settings that can be tweaked to speed this process up? Could it possibly be a printer issue? This just recently started happening. Any suggestions are appreciated. I haven't ever experienced this but are you on a slow Internet connection? An hour is an awful long time (which I'm sure you know already) "Geoff" <geoff.warner@gmail...

Trying to run a non-Win32 Application
Hi, I don't know if I am in the correct newsgroup. If I am not, please let me know. I have a dilemma that starts with MS Outlook. I am trying to install updates onto the outlook Calendar without user intervention by using a vbScript. The problem that is happening is that if a user clicks on a button in Outlook called "Add Holidays ..." then a GUI titled 'Add holidays to Calendar' is invoked. If I double click on a particular file in the program directory, namely Outlook.hol, then the GUI titled 'Add holidays to Calendar' is invoked. Anothe...

Publisher thinks I am trying to open a file I received, with a di.
Received a file via email. Cannot open the file with Publisher. It thinks I am using a different version. I am not. It was created with Publisher 2000 and I am using Publisher 2000. When I attempt to open the file I receive a message that "cannot open file with a different version of Publisher". Can anyone help me? Was the file zipped before it was sent? It should have been. Email attachments are frequently corrupted. The best way to prevent this is to zip them at the origin then unzip them at the destination. This puts a shell around them that can help prevent them fro...

generate-id() and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
generate-id() appears to break in XSL transformations after installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 or Visual Studio 2005 Beta. I have found several references to this searching the net but nobody has followed up with any answers. Is this really a bug or what? It worked fine on all our transformations until we loaded Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 on that particular machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA Mitch@Ross wrote: > generate-id() appears to break in XSL transformations after installing > Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack ...

about stopping threads and critical regions
Hello! Here is some text from a book. "Controlling threads in your applications often requires that you be able to stop threads. The primary mechanism for stopping threads is to use the Thread.Abort method. When the Thread.Abort method is called, the threading system prepares to throw a ThreadAbortException in the thread. Whether the exception is caught or not, the thread is stopped after it is thrown. The following code snippet provides an example: Thread newThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(AbortThisThread)); newThread.Start(); newThread.Abort(); static void AbortThi...

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone installed the .NET framework update on a CRM1.0 server yet? I haven't seen any news about it's affects on CRM (good or bad), and I'd rather have some information either way before I take the plunge. I'd just prefer not to spend any nights or weekends fixing something that I could've prevented, especially on an upgrade! Thanks Martin I suggest you move on up and install the newest framework and drop 1.0 and its sp's >-----Original Message----- >Hello everyone, > >I was wondering if anyone installed the .NET f...
