Restoration of Shares doesnt restore the share (dpm 2010)

I tried the option of checking off the share in my PG.. so i did a test, i
deleted the share from my server, then did a recovery from DPM, restoring the
share (I tried both permission options in the recovery).. it restores things,
permissions included, but the share does not get recreated..

Is there some other way to store share information inside the backup
perhaps, from the servers in question..

IE: I have alot of hyperv guests that i am doing granualar file backups on,
rather than backing up the vhd.. i felt that backing up the vhd and doing the
file backups inside the vhd was over kill, for the D drives anyway..

I'd rather not have to backup the vhd AND do file system level backups, req.
twice the space..

Thanks for any tips

AFAIK share info is stored in the system state. Doing a file level backup
will just backup the NTFS structure (permissions, hidden, etc) which doesn't
contain any information about sharing.

I found this tip on how to backup the share info.. so if the vhd is
recreated and data restored, running this from before (importing) should
recreate things:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Shares

Moving, converting and shrinking DPM volumes
Hello all, I could use a little help with a couple of questions about DPM volumes. Here is a little background on our current setup. We are running DPM 2010 RC on Windows 2008. We are protecting 1 file server. We have 2 custom DPM volumes 1 recovery (7TB) and 1 replica (12TB) each on their own disk array. 1.) I know that you can use MigrateDatasourceDataFromDPM to move volumes but is there a way to move just a replica or recovery point volume and not a pair at the same time? The guide to that script suggests it needs to move both volumes. Right now I have 2 custom volumes one...

DPM managing tapes rotation is not clear 12-10-09
Hello forum, I have DPM 2007 SP1 in production with an tape autoloader. I have trouble when changing new tapes. Ejecting and inserting from the DPM UI is not available so I have to do it manually. 7 tapes are in the magazine (all ready for off site checked). I replaced 3 of them. But right after this operation, I have "suspect" in the new tapes status. According to dpm documentation, it's related to the OMID as the bar codes are and displayed different. I don"t know how to check this point. Even though, I went through http://technet.microsoft.com/...

Money 05 restore problems
I need to reformat my hard drive and am moving important files to another computer before I do. The problem is that I cant make my files work on the other computer. I have read all the previous posts regarding this problem and none of the solutions are working. I either have trouble with the password or it tells me the file is incompatible. They are both 1105 versions running on XP, I have tried through a network file transfer, through using the flash drive. I have tried transfering both the backup as well as the original files. I disabled the password on the original to make it easier ...

Unvalid product key after restore
Hi, I have done what I would believe would be called a "factory restore", and hence lost my office(2003). I still had tha cd and thought that would be it, but now when I have installed it, the product key that was in the cd case is said to be unvalid. What is the problem? What can I do? Would be thankful for help... The first thing to check would be that the version of Office on your system (from the restore) matches the version on the CD you have. In an Office application, go to "Help", then "About" to see what Office it is. You could also...

Hi, Am recovering a small Biz 2003 server for a customer where backups have not been working. The system drive is almost completely dead. Sharing Address Books
Hi All, I have 2 profiles for Outlook 2000 on my Computer. I currently am maintaining 2 contact lists (1 for each profile). Both contact lists are identical so it would make sense if I could either syncronise them or preferably - actually access the same contact list. I also need to ensure that I don't loose any addresses that aren't currently in both address books. I therefore need to do the following:- 1) Verify that there are no records that are going to be lost (I can probably do this easiest by exporting the address book to excel). 2) The main thing - share 1 contact list b...

How to restore printers on a print server?
Hey Everyone, We are running Windows 2003 server as a print server and have about 200 printers on it. Last night the system went down and we had to rebuild it (Same name and IP address). We use NetBackup and backup the following path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool Can we just do a restore of the folder and get all the printers back? TIA, Clayton I don't think that will get it. You may have to recreate them by hand. Once you get them setup use print migrator to back them up and restore. See: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b9f2925-cbc9...

Shared workbooks #3

How to create public shared calendar?

When they put in an appointment or event, I'd like for everyone else to be able to view it in their Outlook apps. So far, I've created a public folder in Exchange, then in Outlook, created a calendar under that public folder and given the appropriate people permissions. I can view the calendar, but can't seem to put it below my personal calendar so I can check or uncheck in order to view side by side. Also, when I add or update an event, other users can't ...

How to have multiple charts share a legend, so that the color properly matches the same X value in each graph? Example: 3 different Data Tables: Name / Age, Name / Height, Name / Weight. Media Sharing Dialog Crashes
I have a sneaking suspicion that WMC 3.0 (inside WMP11) is broken on my PC due to an accidental over-install of WMC 2. However, whilst the WMC 2 files are in the programs folder, and its icon is in the start menu, WMC fails to start when clicked. The Media Sharing dialog box (under Library in WMP11) will show when selected. However it lists no devices, and clicking "share" and then settings causes a crash in NTDLL.DLL that brings down WMP11. I've tried reinstalling WMP11, but that changes nothing. I can't do anything about WMC 2, because Add/Remove do...
