Replicated AD in CRM

Hi,
We have a potential client but need to clarify somthing.
This company has a branch overseas, and another here in Melbourne Australia.
Their AD is based in the overseas branch, the AD here is replicated with the
one overseas. The overseas branch has Sieble and the Melbourne branch is
wanting to install the Microsoft CRM. How will this work with the AD being
replicated? When we do the install will we need to do anything with the AD
in the overseas branch?

Any help muchly appreciated.
Thanks.

Can you clarity your domain structure. Does the overseas branch use the same
domain as the melbourne branch with domain replication between the two?

Thanks for the reply John.
Office1(overseas) and Office2(here)
Both offices are on the same domain.
Active Directory/Domain is based in Office1 and replicated to Office2.
We are doing the install at Office2.
Both offices have their own individual MS Exchange etc etc.
Thanks again!

When you install MSCRM you will be asked to enter your company name.
This name is then your top level Business Unit in MSCRM, it also creates
a top level Organistional Unit in Active Directory with the same name.
All MSCRM BU and Security Groups are created below this point.

One really important thing is that you must make sure that the admins at
the other site do not, under any circumstances, change anything about
this OU and it's sub OUs if those changes are likely to be replicated
back to you. It can adversly effect the function of MSCRM.

Otherwise, it should not be a problem.

Hope this helps you and good luck.

I assume office 2 has domain controllers as well? Is the domain in native
mode?

Need better way to provision AD accounts that are to have mailboxes
The exchange admins in my company have come up with a way for the sys admins to assign the user's mailbox store location. It's based off of last name. For example, if your last name starts with letter A, you go on Storage Group 1, Mailbox Store A, if your last name starts with letter B, you go on Storage Group 1, Mailbox Store B, if your last name starts with letter E, you go on Storage Group 2, Mailbox Store A, etc.... I am going to move the CRM SQL databases to a new server. We will also be moving Great Plains off the CRM server and on to the new SQL server. We are bouncing around the idea of naming the new SQL server to the name that the current CRM server uses and renaming the current CRM server. The thinking here is that we won't have to touch the Great Plains clients. What kinds of issues can I expect in this scenario?
