CRM installation problem with MSDE SP4
When I try to install Ms CRM Laptop Client for outlook Setup, I see: MSDE Service Pack 4 Installation failed - Interrupted by the user?? I've tryed to manually install MSDE and the SP 4, but I obtain the same error during the starting phase of the installation Suki I had this problem and got round it by running the client install from the ClientApps folder on the server rather than from the Client Install CD. As you'll see from the post I've just put in - I had other problems *grin* Mark Suki wrote: > When I try to install Ms CRM Laptop Client for outlook Setup, I see: &...

Removing an email from a queue without deleting email from CRM
Hi, Say I get an email into my personal mailbox and decide to track it in CRM (3.0). This email then appears in the Assigned queue in My Workplace. I can then accept it and it moves to in progress. Fine so far. But what happens when I've dealt with it and I need to get it out of the queue? I may not want to convert it to an opportunity, but I still need it to be in the history of the Account to which I've related it to. As far as I can make out, if I delete it, it stays in my personal inbox but disappears from the History in CRM. Other CRM packages have a "file it" op...

New to Windowing functions
hi I=92ve started learning about Windowing functions and while I somewhat understand the basics, I still feel like I don=92t quite see the big picture. Anyways, here are few questions 1) I assume the term Windowing functions refers to both Ranking window functions and Aggregate window functions? 2) Is there a reason why these functions are named =93WINDOWING=94 ? 3) I=92m not sure how to ask the following question or if it even makes any sense, but still: As far as I can tell, using ORDER_BY in the context of ranking functions is only useful when we don=92t also sor...

ODBC driver for Microsoft CRM
Does anyone know if there is or are any plans to have some sort of ODBC / OLEDB driver for Microsoft CRM. This would be great if you are writing reports in something other than Crystal, for example SQL Reporting services. TIA If you really want it, the data is available directly from SQL. However, this approach will not enforce the data security that is provided via the CRM enhancements. I have not heard of any plans to change this in future releases. HELP: CRM 1.2 Upgrade error...
HI, We are trying to upgrade our CRM 1.0 to version 1.2. We have a Web Server (CRM) as well as a seperate SQL Server. AD is also installed on dedicated servers. We installed all necessary requirements. We uninstalled all software that should not be installed (cf Migration framework). We ran setup off the CD-ROM (even 2 different medias) and a local directory (with no space and 8 chars long: D:\SOURCES\MSCRM12). All attempts gave the same result: When running the SERVER.MSI portion of the setup, you see the setup stopping the CrystalAPS Service and then it gives you the following message: &q...

Anyone succeeded in registering CRM 1.2 ?
Hi all, Today I tried to get my keys for CRM 1.2 (I'm a MS Certified Partner) and I couldn't figure what information it needed. I got the latest 1.2 CRM cd's with the latest MSDN package, and a sheet of paper with a web site to goto after February 9th. So this morning I tried to do as instructed, and couldn't figure out what options to pick and what information to put in. Any other MS Certified Partners out there have success with this ? Thanks Nick Nick, I have just registered our copy that we got through MSDN. I selected the bottom option on the first page, and then ...

Error Promoting Emails within MS CRM
Good Morning, Our end users are experiencing a sporadic error when trying to track emails within CRM. The error message received is as follows: An error occurred promoting this item to Microsoft CRM. I have checked that users are using the required version of Outlook and that users have the necessary permissions – Any ideas what maybe causing this problem? Thanks in advance Iain Hi Iain, does the email that failed to get promoted have embedded "unresolved' (i.e. with a red cross) graphics, by any chance? If yes then this problem has already been discussed here: http://g...

Some CRM suggestions
I'm using CRM 1.2 and would like to see the following features: Email 1. Prevent the same email template from being sent more than once to a Lead 2. Handle email bounces and remove/unsubscribe 3. CRM EMAIL
Does anyone else find it silly that CSRs are having to copy/paste email message body from another application because MS has not included a spell checker in the CRM Email? Has anyone heard that MS will be updating CRM? The Email client in CRM does not provide 1/3rd of the functionality that Outlook offers. Thank you for any information. Hey - If you are creating the e-mail using the CRM E-Mail button in the Sales Outlook client, you can choose under Tools the Spelling option or hit F7 to have your spelling checked. CRM 3.0 will now not go back on line
Hello, Really starting to hate the CRM 3.0 product. Apart from being acward to install (demanding a large number of service packs, but not bothing to put them on the CDs), the web interface demanding that you dont have any protection (pop-up blockers, google bars etc) otherwise IE shuts down, and the user guide contridicting the functionality (you can do everything in the Outlook client that you can in the browser, it says. That is, apart from things like client import and a dozen other major tasks), and apart from really useful messages like "the soure file is corrupt" on an impor...

Problems with MS CRM 4.0 on Terminal Server
Hello Everyone, I recommended MS CRM to our organization. So, we are new to MS CRM 4.0 and I start regretting the recommendation. There are tons of issues with security warning related to non existing pop-up blockers with Outlook and IE, but those are issues for another time. The issue I have today relates to Terminal Server users using MS CRM with Outlook on Terminal Server. They started getting messages that the server is unavailable, requests failed, no authorization, etc. I know, it doesn't say much. And I know that deleting a profile and creating a new one on TS works, but thi...

slowly bring clients to new server
I would like to setup a new server (SBS 2008) and bring clients over to it 2 at a time while the others are working on the old setup (SBS 2003) -- if i had them on separate networks (so the two didn't see each other) and they each had their own static IP for internet, what would the drawbacks be? That way i could bring our network up to the new server over a week instead of having downtime? The reason i want to do it slower is to convert each client computer to windows 7 (or back to XP for some) with clean installs since we had a nasty virus issue a bit ago and i don't beli...
