Filtered view linked table behaviour from Microsoft Access

Using CRM 3.0 and Microsoft Access 2003

We have a legacy database using access that linked to Golmine (dbase)
contacts for the pupose of contact lookup which is then used in a quotation
table and subsequent lookup of address information on a printed "Quote" form.
This has been in place for years and has performed well.

We are changing from Goldmine to CRM 3.0 and I am having trouble with the
behaviour of the linked dbo.filteredcontact view. The view does link and can
be used in another access table (say Quote) to lookup a contact ID. However a
access query that joins the CRM view fields with the "Quote" fields does not
return the records. I also created a new SQL view based on the
dbo.filteredcontacs view - the behaviour is identical.

Has anyone had experience with this issue and can advise on what I might be
doing wrong?

Thanks
Gary

the filtered views respect your crm security model. so when you run a query
based on a filtered view, it is running based on the user you are connecting
sql with. So if you are using windows authentication to connect to sql,
then the queries will return results based on what your login can see in the
CRM. Do you have view permission on the contacts and quotes when you log
into CRM as the same user you are running your queries as? If you are using
sql authentication to link Access and SQL, then your queries will always
return no rows.

I'm still leaning towards a security problem, but if you want to know for
sure and you don't seem to have security concerns, why don't you use the
non-filtered views like "contact". They have mostly the same constructs as
the filtered views, but provide no security. all users who query those
views will get the same results.
