CRM 3.0 Implementation
I am interested in the experiences of others with implementing Microsoft CRM
3.0. I am a one man development team who has been tasked with implementing
CRM 3.0 with 30 users initially.
Our organization has been running on Lotus Notes for quite a while. We moved
to echange for e-mail over a year ago but still use Lotus for custom
databases. The first step will be pulling the data from Lotus Notes to CRM.
I have looked into the Microsoft CRM 3.0 Certification. There is a company
that offers a 10 day CRM 3.0 boot camp. Is this a good idea, and at what
point should I take it? We would lik...Problems with creating a newsletter
I chose the form "Newsletter - email".
I have created a 3 page newsletter. Now, I have NO IDEA how to send it out
as an email. I do not want to send it as an attachment. I cannot figure out
which "save as" format or what I need to do so that i can email this
newsletter. Is there a website that goes through how to do this?
Am I correct when I say that it has to be html in order for me to send it as
email? That is not one of the options.
Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated.
...Changing SQL Server for CRM 1.2
As my SQL server is currently on its last breath I am in the process of
moving our CRM 1.2 databases to a new dedicated serever. I have detatched the
databases from the old server, copied the files to the server and attached
I have then gone into CRM deployment manager and changed to the SQL server
to the new server.
That all appears to work fine, no error messages. But when users try to
access the CRM system they get an error and the CRM server event log fills
with error messages. A few are listed below:

I am having a problem migrating data from Business Contacts Manager (BCM)
into CRM 3.0 Small Business edition.
I have downloaded the BCM data migration pack and have followed the data
migration documentation to the letter.
I even cleaned up the BCM database prior to copying the files, checking them
for errors using the Manage Database option in the Business Tools menu.
It gets so far through the migration process and then bombs out.

We did some computer switching, which involved uninstalling a copy of Office
XP and replacing it with a copy of Office 2003. Now when I open Outlook, it
makes me choose a user. This wasn't in the .pst file which was transferred
for the other computer, but apparenly it was on this computer someplace.
How can I get Outlook to simply open for the one account without that dialog
box popping up?
Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles...remove any profiles you don't want.
Select the one you do want and set it as the default. (if there are more

I send an email to a certain receipient but don't want to use the
default email account.
Is it possible that when I send to them (plain text) , that it will
choose the other account I want to use to send it? Please advise how I
set this up.
I do not believe that this can be achieved automatically through standard
use of Outlook as you need to manually specify the name of the account to
send from if different than the default.
However, it would be possible using the Outlook object model. An Addin would
need to be developed that monitored each mail item prior to sending. If the

Has anyone else come across this issue in MSCRM3.0? - when you attempt to
resolve an email address to an existing contact in CRM (that does not
currently have an email address stored in their details) the contact resolves
OK but does not update the email address in the contacts details.
Is this by design, or have I found a bug?

I had some serious driver issues that required re-installing XP from
disc. I did use the backup option and have a backup of all the old
data. And of course had to reinstall Office 2003.
Will third party software restore my old email and addresses or am I

I am running Exchnage 2003. My CEO has a conatct in our organisation that
refer to his blackberry contact. I have set the forwarding to also keep a
copy in his mailbox.
What happens is that three copies of his forwarded email hit his blackberry
account! Only one hits his internal mailbox.
What I ahve determined is that the front end Exchange server seems to be
creating the additional copies. Is this how its meant to be (don think so cos
its such a nuisance and my CEO keeps complaining about it).
How do I tell the front end server that this guy's mail server is the one

Some specific users are constantly getting prompted for CRM login in Outlook.
We are using desktop client (online) online. This happens randomly. We have
CRM 3.0 with rollup update 2 and IE7. We have also applied this fix

site to local intranet zone.

server (single sign on). If you were to close the browser and run a different
report does it still prompt for credentials?

multiple existing contacts (or accounts) to an account.
My client has accounts that have many contacts (or accounts) involved at

One of my users is experiencing an issue when they save an email that is
tracked within CRM the email displays in CRM with "Size=2>" directly in front
of certain lines of the email. So for example "Size=2>" will appear in front
of someone's comments in the email or in front of their name. Does anyone
know why "Size=2>" is displaying in front of the lines of an email? Thanks.

When you send an e-mail message from an existing Microsoft Business Solutions
CRM contact, the e-mail address does not resolve to the contact record. When
you view the e-mail message in Microsoft CRM, you receive the following error
The sender's email address could not be resolved to a record in the system.
At least one recipient could not be resolved to a record in the system.
There is a KB article with a hotfix that addresses this issue for CRM 1.0 -

We have a user which, for administrative reasons, needs to export all
mailbox-enabled users in the GAL now and then. They just need all the
names. Is there a straightforward way for them to do that?
We don't want to give them any special permissions and want to avoid
server scripting. Ideally, they should be able to export it to a CSV
file or any text file.

In trying to troubleshoot and issue in CRM where I had multiple user accounts
for a single ADUC user, I tried disabling and re-enabling a user's account.
But even after re-enabling the account the user cannot log in now. The error
message says that it is disallowed when he tries to browse to the CRM server.
Please help, I need to get this user account working again asap.

I want to use the MS CRM security settings so that users in New
Business Sales cannot see any account records for our current
customers. This includes if the New Business Sales users select the
‘All Accounts’ view.

Yes. When you assign access rights to the role, only give them "Business Unit"
access, they will only be able to see data within their BU.

I have a user running Outlook 2002. She has been sending
out an email every week to a few other users to remind
them to go out on the network and check a certain file. I
advised her to have each person set up a recurring
calendar reminder so she no longer has to do this. She was
aware that she could do this but wanted to know if there
was a way she could create a recurring email from herself
to these other people instead. I am not aware of a way to
do this in Outlook so I thought I'd post this to see if
anyone else knew if this was possible.

need to know how to move all of my current info (calendar, email, contacts,
etc) to my new PC Outlook 2003.
First, never import.
Second, read the Help Files:
For best results make sure you check your PST file for errors just before
you migrate it and do NOT copy it into Outlook's default folder where you
may inadvertently overwrite another PST file and corrupt your profile.
