CRM Custom Entity Relationship

We have 2 custom entities - one is called a property and the other one
is called occupant. There exist a one to many relationship between
property and occupant. There are some attributes, that are just part
of this relationship. In other words, every time, I assign an occupant
to this property, I want to capture the move-in date, lease terms,
etc. and when they move out, capture move-out date, etc. at that
point. This very same occupant can now be associated with another
property with the same move-in date etc. attributes. Is there a way to
achieve this in CRM without writing a customization? At the moment, we
can assign occupant to properties but there is no way for us to
capture these attributes against that relationship. Any help you can
extend will be greatly appreciated.

What you need is a many:many relationship between Property and Occupant.
Unfortunately in CRM, you cannot add any attributes to n:n relationships.
So the workaround many people use is to create a joiner entity.

For example, create a new Entity called PropertyOccupant. Create N:1
relationships between PropertyOccupant and the Property and the Occupant
entities. Then add all your extra attributes to the PropertyOccupant
entity. Now when you open up a property, you will see all of the
PropertyOccupant records, which will show you the Occupants as well as all
the extra attributes. Same thing goes from the other side as well - if you
open up an Occupant record, you can see all the PropertyOccupant records,
which will show you the Property as well as all the extra attributes.

Hope this helps.

Track in CRM function
Hello. Upon selecting the “Track In CRM” button from the CRM line in Outlook I have two questions based on situation: 1) If the contact exists in CRM it appears to attach the email but provides no notice unless you try to attach it again? True? 2) If the contact does not exist it attaches the email where? In v1.2 it opened a window and made the user create a record. I think it is attaching or tracking the email in CRM somewhere because trying to do it again, I'm asked if you want to attach/track it again. Does this make sense? Migrating data from ACT to CRM (how to get at act! data)
I intend on using the DMF to migrate data to CRM. The question I have is how do I get at the underlying database that ACT uses. I see the MS excel file for ACT has table and field mappings but I need to do some specialized SQL. I can't seem to figure out though how to get into the SQL database where the ACT information is stored. How do I log into that database? Thanks! -Elie From my days working with ACT, I thought the databse was built around Microsoft Access. If indeed the databas is SQL then you should be able to get your SQL DBA to grant you access to the SQL Database. -- Rgds...

Printing single labels directly from CRM 4.0
Hi! We are currently moving from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0 while at the same time introducing many new users to the system. One feature that we would like to have, partly to satisfy new users, would be to print individual account's or contact's addresses to a labelwriter. Basically, the idea would be that from any view you could select 1-n accounts or contacts, then click print label on the toolbar, and then the labels would print from your selected labelprinter. Especially when printing only one or a few labels, this approach would be preferable to printing eg through mailmerge. I'm n...

Filtering data by custom fields in pivot tables from Visual Report
I have recently upgraded to MS Project 2007 and like the visual reporting feature, except I really need to filter and group the resulting pivot table in Excel by custom fields. For example, for task usage, I cannot filter my pivot table to show only the tasks that have costs > $0, thus my table ends up showing too many lines and a lot of 0's. I would also like to group by department/ function which I put in a custom text field. How do I do this? Keeping Custom Properties When Forwarding or Replying to a Message #2
We have emails saved on the file system, that is kept track of by another program. These emails have custom properties attached to them. There is no custom form, just custom properties. These fields were originally added using objPost.UserProperties.Add. We need it so that when someone opens up one of these emails through the file system, and then replies or fowards the message, these custom properties are kept in the reply. This is so the external program can track these emails. Is there a way this can be done? We could have these emails opened up using an Outlook command line that i...

My company wants to move away from CRM 1.2. They want to keep using the CRM database because of the volume of data that resides their. Can they still use the CRM database after the CRM 1.2 license expires? Yes. You own the data. As for the "license", it doesn't really expire. You have the rights to use the software, but you have a support contract which will expire. Once that expires, you will not be able to get free upgrade tot he software, but you can still continue to use the app. -- Matt Parks MVP - Microsoft CRM "Hammer" <Hammer@discussions.microso...

OL Contact -> CRM 3.0 Account ?
From what I know so far, I can enable an Outlook contact for tracking in CRM which in fact after creation of the contact in CRM creates a bidirectional link b/w the Outlook und CRM representation of the contact, tracking and automatically synchronizing changes between the two. So far so good. Now, quite a few of the contacts we have in our Outlook environement are really accounts (in CRM speak). Email automation of CRM per product according to sales cycle
Is there a way to automate Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 to email a set of contact records every 10 days according to product interest and according to where in the sales cycle that contact is?
